Joe Biden has been criticized again for making mistakes during his speech this week.
The US president appears to have confused the current French president, Emmanuel Macron, with his predecessor, Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996 and appears to be unaware of the mistake.
Following his mistake, Biden was criticized on social media, with many questioning whether he still retained his full mental faculties.

President Joe Biden recently caused a stir on social media because he once again made a mistake during a campaign speech in Las Vegas.
During the speech, Biden recounted a conversation from the G7 summit where NATO leaders had a conversation about the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. However, the 81-year-old president accidentally confused the name of former French president Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996, with Emmanuel Macron, the current president of France.
“It’s in the south of England. And I sat down, and I said, ‘America is back,’ and Mitterrand from Germany, I mean from France, looked at me and said – said, ‘you know what – why – how long have you been back?'” Biden said in his speech .
Biden then mentioned that Angela Merkel, the former German chancellor, asked what her reaction would be if the British Parliament was attacked. In response, he said he “never thought about it from that perspective.”

On social media, many users slammed Biden for the mistake, with one even suggesting the president was suffering from mental illness.
The user claimed, “The Leader of the Free World has Alzheimer’s, and everyone knows it!”
Another follower joked, “He might meet her. Old people see the dead more than the living.”
Another said watching Biden make mistakes was “painful to watch,” adding that it was “like watching a grandfather at the dinner table telling you a story that took 30 minutes to tell.”
Another commented, “It’s funny how embarrassing it is for the US. The whole world is laughing at him, not at him.”
Another X user claimed that Biden’s mistake meant he wasn’t the one to run the country. The comment read, “I want to know who really runs the country. Not him, never.”
The president was recently attacked for calling Trump a ‘sitting president’

Biden’s latest offense comes weeks after he was criticized for calling his predecessor Donald Trump “a sitting president.”
While giving a speech on the economy in South Carolina, Biden said, “American consumers are facing real confidence in the economy we’re building. Let me tell you who else noticed that- Donald Trump.”
The president then made a shocking mistake, asking, “Did you see what he said recently.. he wants, he wants to see the economy fall this year? The sitting president.”
Biden continued without correcting himself. He called Trump a “loser” for referring to fallen US soldiers as “sick and losers” after failing to visit a cemetery in France.
“[He]refers to the hero, and I quote, as ‘sick and loser.’ He actually said that! How dare he say that. The only loser I see is Donald Trump,” Biden said.
The president also claimed that Trump knows that the American economy is “good and strong and getting stronger.” He added, “[Trump] knew that while it was good for America, it was bad for him politically.”
Past Mistakes of President Joe Biden

In the past, Biden has been known for a number of mistakes that have raised concerns about his cognitive abilities.
On several occasions, the president mistakenly stated that his son Beau died in Iraq instead of at Walter Reed. Additionally, he confused the ongoing conflict in Ukraine with the Iraq War, which ended in 2011.
In another instance, during the closing remarks of a speech on gun control, he said, “God save the Queen, oh man,” leaving many wondering whether he was referring to the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 or Queen Camilla, Britain’s current monarch.
Biden also once claimed that the US has “stopped cancer as we know it,” a statement that doesn’t seem to be supported by any statistics.
