The woman who shot up Joel Osteen’s megachurch with an AR-style rifle used to terrorize neighbors brandishing a gun and arrow while giving Nazi salutes — and referred only to the special-needs son she brought with her during the attack as “the boy.”
Before Sunday’s surprise attack on Lakewood Church in the Houston area, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, had terrorized her neighborhood in Conroe, Texas — with police calling several times to the home she shared with her mother and 7-year-old son, according to neighbors.
“The way to scare him is to bring gun cases in and out, crossbows,” a neighbor told Fox 26.
“He’s going out, bring his gun case, hell Hitler [salute], drop you, call you the b word, or something. It’s something every day.”
Another neighbor claimed Moreno tried to hit them with his car.
Moreno, who has a documented history of mental illness, brought his son to Sunday’s shooting.

He was left fighting for his life after being hit in the head when police shot and killed his mother.
Moreno shared the boy with her ex-husband, a registered sex offender — and showed “no bond with the child,” according to divorce records cited by the local station.
Instead of calling the 7-year-old by his name, Moreno referred to him as “the boy” and “didn’t make eye contact with him,” the filing said.

The woman, who has a long rap sheet, used both male and female aliases but arrest and jail records show Moreno always identified as female.
Harris County records show Moreno, under the names Jeffery Escalante-Moreno or Jeffery Escalante, was charged in six felony cases from 2005 to 2011 and in her divorce papers, her ex-husband also referred to Moreno as Jeffrey.
Charges against him ranged from forging $100 bills, stealing socks, hats and makeup, to assault for kicking a detention officer.
Moreno entered Osteen’s Lakewood Church between Sunday afternoon services with his son in tow and opened fire from an AR-style rifle with a “Palestine” sticker affixed to it, officials said.
Two off-duty officers guarding the church – Houston police Christopher Moreno, who was not related to the shooter, and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Agent Adrian Herrera – returned fire and killed him.

The woman’s son shot himself in the head during the exchange, according to police.
Investigators have not yet determined whether the 7-year-old boy was accidentally shot by one of the off-duty officers.
A 57-year-old innocent bystander also suffered a gunshot wound to the hip but has been released from hospital.
