JoJo Siwa Given Prestigious LGBTQ+ Award!

JoJo Siwa has been making her mark in Hollywood and the LGBTQ+ community for years.

The former “Dance Moms” alum came out as pansexual in 2021. Since then, she’s been a huge advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

He has often been friends with women since coming out.

Explosion learned that the 20-year-old was recently awarded the “Future of Hollywood” award at the 10th annual “Real to Reel: Portrayals and Perceptions of LGBTQ+s in Hollywood.”

Raven Symoné presented Siwa with the prestigious award on Thursday, June 8.

The exhibition “Real to Reel: Portrayals and Perceptions of LGBTQ+s in Hollywood” opens on June 9.

Per Neal PR, “This educational, entertaining and informative retrospective of LGBTQ images in film and television featuring costumes, props, photos and iconic imagery will tell the story of the milestones and influence that LBGTQ characters and plots have had in Hollywood from early stereotypes to contemporary representations modern.”

The Hollywood Museum’s ‘REAL to REEL’ exhibition coincides with the annual Christopher Street West Pride event. It offers a historical perspective spanning 100+ years, from silent films to today’s films, TV shows and digital platforms.

“The museum welcomes the opportunity to create and showcase this important exhibition, sharing with the public the artistic expression and extraordinary importance of LGBTQ+ culture and its impact and impact on the world through the medium of entertainment,” said Dadigan.

The exhibition will revisit monumental LGBTQ moments in history with items including a Who’s Who in entertainment costumes, props and LGBTQ+ memorabilia.

Personal artifacts from famous LGBTQ+ artists and gay icons from television, film and music will be on display.

Think Judy Garland, Cher, Joan Rivers, Whitney Houston, Al Pacino, Dame Edna, “Broke Back Mountain” with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, Jim Parsons, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” & drag legends including Jim Bailey and CoCo Peru.

Also featured in the exhibition is one of JoJo’s concert outfits.

A source revealed there was massive chaos outside the Hollywood Museum when JoJo arrived.

“When JoJo arrived at the museum, fans were everywhere; a tour bus was in a jam in front of the museum, and we thought the young people on the bus would jump off and try to get to JoJo,” they explained. “It was CRAZY, but everything was fine. The screams from the fans were something to see and hear.”

During last night’s awards ceremony, the 20-year-old met Judy Garland’s daughter, Lorna Luft.

Lorna and JoJo were both honored at the event, and Lorna is a huge fan of JoJo’s.

Michael Feinstein presented Lorna with the Judy Garland Legacy Award. He gave a moving speech about his late mother.

JoJo’s mom, Jessalynn Siwa, also had a fangirl moment against many of the celebrity guests.

All the LGBTQ+ fun takes place at the Hollywood Museum in the iconic Max Factor building.
