Jonathan Majors’ domestic assault trial was expected to begin in a Manhattan courtroom on Wednesday – but it was delayed again, with the Marvel actor only having to make a brief appearance via video.
Prosecutors said during a hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court that they were ready to go to trial — but the “Creed III” star’s defense attorney argued that there were “shortcomings” in the evidence that still needed to be addressed.
Majors – who is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend during a brawl in Chelsea in March – appeared virtually, wearing a light brown polo shirt in front of a blurred background on a flat-screen monitor.
He offered few words except the occasional “Yes, ma’am” while answering routine compliance questions from Judge Rachel Pauley, who reminded him to stay away from his ex, Grace Jabbari — whom he allegedly assaulted and harassed.
Pauley has his next hearing scheduled for Sept. 15, where a new trial date will be set.

Majors, 33, was originally set to stand trial on Aug. 3, but in court that day, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway said prosecutors needed more time to investigate evidence — resulting in a delay to Sept. 6.
It is not yet known whether he will choose to face a jury or ask a judge to hear the evidence in a court hearing.
Major’s lawyer Priya Chaudhry has maintained the Major’s innocence since his arrest, claiming that it was Jabbari, 30, who attacked him and that he tried to escape from him on March 25.
Jabbari allegedly suffered minor head and neck injuries after the altercation.
Majors filed a domestic violence complaint against Jabbari in June, accusing him of scratching and hitting her while he was drunk during the March altercation that resulted in his arrest.
The “Lovecraft Country” star is facing further abuse allegations after an explosive Rolling Stone exposé featured a dozen sources outlining the actor’s alleged treatment of his ex – where one of his unnamed girlfriends suffered “extreme abuse, both physical and mental.”

Majors had previously appeared in court alongside his girlfriend, actress Meagan Good – but he was allowed to appear again virtually for his next hearing later this month, according to the judge.
