Majors denied allegations that he assaulted his rumored girlfriend, claiming she was the victim instead.

The actor was arrested on Saturday and charged with “misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault and harassment” after reportedly having a “domestic dispute” with the unidentified 30-year-old woman.

He issued a statement through his lawyer Priya Chaudhry after posting bail the same day in which he vowed to clear his name.

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and may have been the victim of an argument with a woman he knew,” his lawyer said in the statement, per Sun. “We are expeditiously gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped immediately.”

Chaudhry also stated, “All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not attack him at all.”

TMZ previously reported that Majors and his girlfriend got into a fight while returning home in a cab from a bar in Brooklyn. The fight between the two is said to have started after the alleged victim confronted the actor upon seeing him getting a text from another woman.

Majors reportedly reacted rudely to the confrontation by grabbing his girlfriend’s hand and slapping her. He allegedly also put his hand around her neck during the argument.

The two ended up not spending the night together, after which the woman reportedly made a report to the police.

Majors is expected back in court in May, where it will be determined whether the charges against him will be dropped.

In the meantime, the charges against him have brought him negative publicity even though the actor has not yet been proven guilty.

The Marvel star was featured in the revived multi-million dollar “Be All You Can Be” ad campaign for the US Army, starring as an on-screen narrator.

However, the military has paused the ad campaign pending resolution of Majors’ legal dilemma.

“The US Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors, and we are deeply concerned about the allegations surrounding his arrest,” said a representative of the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, per Deadline.

“Although Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we withdraw our ad until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”

Majors has also gained attention for his starring roles in Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the third installment of the “Creed” franchise.

He recently discussed how he chose his role in an interview, saying he made the choice based on the amount of “pressure” that came with the part.

“You talk about pressure. That’s how I choose roles; based on pressure. I look at it, and I say, ‘Oh that’s going to be tough,'” Majors said, per NPR.

“I will hit the red zone in that regard. Magazine Dreams, can I be a bodybuilder? I remember reading the script, and googling it, and thinking, ‘This is going to be impossible!’ The same goes for Creed. You watch the movie Rocky, and you think man, that’s so inspiring. But it can be scary when you think about it [about how] you should do that.”

With the sudden scandal surrounding the star, it remains to be seen how much it could affect his acting career, especially his relationship with Marvel Studios.
