During a recent episode of “The View,” Joy Behar commented on Queen Elizabeth II’s son, King Charles III, not ascending the throne sooner.

Behar expressed sympathy for “poor Charles” as he waited “so long” to ascend the throne. The comedian suggested that the Queen’s long reign could benefit from term limits.

“What I meant, [Queen Elizabeth] been in position for 70 years, you know, and the longest reign. I think he could use some term limits,” he explained. “It was like, why not step back and let Charles enjoy his day in the sun?”

Behar lamented the time of Charles’ reign, adding: “The poor man, he ended up being king, and now he has an illness. That doesn’t seem fair. There’s something wrong with that.”

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 at the age of 96, Charles, 75, was crowned King in May 2023.

Ten months into his reign, Charles was diagnosed with a benign prostate enlargement after he began experiencing symptoms. However, a recent statement from Buckingham Palace suggests the monarch’s health has taken a turn for the worse.

The statement read: “During a recent procedure at The King’s hospital for a benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

Although the specific type of cancer was not disclosed, officials said he will receive regular treatment, leading to a temporary suspension of public duties.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also gave assurances BBC Radio that Charles’ cancer was “caught early” and that he maintained regular communication during treatment.
