Last year, Bieber bought Bored Ape tokens for $1.3 million, joining many celebrities looking to explore non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as a form of investment.

At the time, collecting NFTS, especially the Bored Monkey Series, was a big deal, and anyone who owned one believed it was an asset that would yield huge profits in the long run.

However, a few months after Bieber made the purchase, the value of the token has dropped massively and is now reportedly worth only $59,090.

News about the current value of NFT is reported by Marca.com. Meanwhile, Bieber has yet to comment after the financial loss, as well as the current value of his other NFTs, which, combined, cost the singer $2 million.

At the time, he shared a photo of the token along with the lyrics of his hit song “Lonely” as a caption.

It reads, “What if you have everything, but no one to call, maybe you’ll know me. Because I have everything but no one listens and it’s just lonely.”

Bieber also reportedly paid 300 percent more than the token’s market value, prompting online users to slam the singer for the outrageous purchase.

“Justin Bieber literally paid 5x the floor price of a Bored Ape for an ape with no rare features. He’s just brilliant,” commented one Twitter user, per Page Six.

“Next time you think you’re bad, remember that .@justinbieber just bought a floor monkey for 500 ETH,” another user said.

Bieber has been keeping a low profile since he officially canceled his Justice World Tour last September. The Canadian singer has been battling Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a neurological disorder that leaves victims with facial nerve paralysis.

“After resting and consulting with my doctors, family and team, I’m off to Europe in an effort to continue the tour,” Bieber took to his Instagram story to announce the decision at the time.

He added, “I did six live shows, but it took a real toll on me. So I’m going to take a little break from touring for a while. I’ll be fine.”

Bieber, who first announced that he was diagnosed with the disease in January 2020, later shared that he was taking a break to prioritize his health.
