Kanye West is in the news again, and this time it’s not at all for the right reasons. The rapper’s entry into the education sector has not been well received, and new revelations about Donda Academy are even more shocking.
News about the Donda Ye Academy, which was built in honor of his late mother Dr. Donda West, began spreading last September when the founder of Yeezy bought 3.7 acres of land in California located between Moorpark and Simi Valley.
By October, the school appeared to be established and began accepting applications from students who described it as “a world-class education that includes a rigorous core curriculum, and an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving”, making them “next”. generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.”

However, despite the picture-perfect development, sources claim everything looks unethical behind the scenes.

NDA & Informal Agreement At Donda Academy

According to Rolling Stone, parents who enroll their children in the private school — which prides itself on preparing “students to become the next generation of leaders” through an “ethic of integrity and care” — must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
According to two sources who spoke to the publication, parents and guardians associated with Donda Academy are required to sign an NDA and are not allowed to speak publicly about the inner workings of their academic process.

A consultant for the institution, Tamar Andrews, confirmed that parents were indeed made to sign some sort of “informal agreement” but did not say whether they were NDAs or what they meant. As for why there is secrecy about the school compared to other top educational institutions in the Valley that share most of the details on their websites, Andrews said:
“Honestly, we don’t care if people know about the school. The people who want to come to the school are looking for a good Christian school in the area and they know that we are there … there are also famous people who come by joining Donda. So, I don’t know that we have to advertise, which is both a blessing and a curse.”

Malik Yusef, a producer and longtime collaborator of Ye’s who helped shape the concept of the school, shared Andrews’ sentiments about Donda Academy’s lack of transparency about its system, saying it was intentional.
In his words, “Donda’s school process is for the people, for the audience. I don’t think Kanye needs to tell the world what he’s doing, so he can be under more scrutiny.”

Yusef added, “People choose to bring their children to Donda Academy for a sense of privacy,” he added. “A sense of caring, a sense of concern, a sense of love, an environment of health and an environment of wealth, an environment of learning, and putting God as the focus.”

Donda Academy is Uncertified & Has Inexperienced Staff
To make matters worse, Donda Academy is not yet recognized. Andrews confirmed this but noted that the school recently applied for accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the leading accrediting agency for all academic institutions in California.
The schedule to visit Donda Academy is reportedly scheduled between December and Spring 2023.
What’s more, the educators employed by Ye to lead the students don’t seem to have any credible experience. For example, Rolling Stone reported that Brianne Campbell, Principal and Executive Director, had never held a formal position as an educator before.
His closest involvement with education came from running his own piano, guitar and singing tutoring business from his apartment. Campbell, who did not respond to an interview request, just enrolled in a master’s degree program in education at Pepperdine University in January and is set to complete the course next August.
Beulah McLoyd, a prominent Chicago educator who once met Barack Obama, was a former principal but left the school because “there are people who aren’t right for every role,” according to Andrews.

Donda Academy is hiring educational staff before the start of the school year and is reportedly paying between $55,000 and $75,000. So far, Ye’s school has 100 students and 16 full-time teachers with a school tuition of $15,000 annually.
The shocking new revelation about Donda Academy comes weeks after Ye blasted his estranged wife Kim Kardashian for not allowing their children to enroll in his school but remain at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles.
