Kate Bush Thrilled Over Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction After ‘Stranger Things’ Success

Kate Bush has experienced many career highlights in the past year; this career-defining milestone has occurred as the “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” singer enters her fifth decade of performing and entertaining audiences with her charming madness.

Bush, 64, gained a new generation of fans when his 1985 song above was featured in the latest season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” in 2022.

The sudden fame came as a bit of a shock to the “Babooshka” singer as she had been living a life away from the limelight.

Bush’s latest unexpected career achievement came almost a year later, with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2023!

Bush’s nomination for this year marks the third; he has been eligible for nomination since 2003. Artists are eligible for participation after their first album is 25 years old.

The “Cloudbusting” singer responded in a statement to his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Bush Also Commented On ‘Running That Hill Success From ‘Stranger Things.’

Thirty-seven years after “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” was released on 1985’s “Hounds Of Love” LP, the song is featured in a critical storyline in the sci-fi-inspired Netflix drama, set in the eighties.

Sadie Sink’s character Max loves the song, and it ends up saving her life! “Running Up That Hill” was instrumental in keeping Max out of the show’s ‘Upside Down universe’.

Fans are just as enamored with “Running Up That Hill” as Max; The opening track on “Hounds Of Love” became a viral success story on TikTok after the fourth season of “Stranger Things” was released.

His success on TikTok no doubt played a role in helping the song reach number one on the Billboard Global 200 chart! “Running Up That Hill” previously achieved chart success after its original release in the US and UK but never once reached number one in any country! The track peaked at number three in England in 1985, per our coverage of Bush’s new breakthrough last year.

He’ll take to his blog to express his gratitude to the “Stranger Things” creator when “Running Up That Hill” finally hits number one.

Bush also expressed his delight at the success of “Running Up That Hill”. He wrote, “By presenting ‘Running Up That Hill’ in a positive light – as a talisman for Max (one of the main female characters) – the song has been brought into the emotional arena of its story. Fear, conflict, and the power of love are all around him and his friends.”

He then continued, “I was overwhelmed by the scale of love and support the song received, and it all happened so quickly as if it was driven by some elemental force. I have to admit I was overwhelmed by it all. Thank you very much for making the song No. 1 unexpectedly,” he concluded his post.

The “Sat In Your Lap” singer returned to her blog to write a brief note about her induction.

“I was really surprised by the news of being inducted into the Hall of Fame!” Bush took office. “It’s just something I never thought would happen. Thanks to everyone who voted for me. It means you will think of me. It’s a great honor. As part of the initiation ceremony, I got to know about the secret handshake… there is one, right?” he concluded.

Alison Moyet of Yazoo tweeted, “Just read that Kate Bush will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. My only thought was, how could this not have happened yet? Like, back in the day? A unique talent.”

The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on November 3 in Brooklyn, New York.
