Kate, who has remained silent following these accusations, finally broke her silence with a statement posted on Instagram.
The reality TV star has subtly denied the claims made by Collin, insisting that he received “multiple psychiatric diagnoses” and inpatient psychiatric treatment in response to his “unpredictable and violent behavior.”
“I never wanted to do this, but I feel like I’ve been backed into a corner and left with no choice. As sad as I am to do so, I have to speak up now,” said Kate.
She continued, “My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years. For the safety of myself, his siblings, and for his well-being, he was placed in a facility after years of treatment outpatients who proved inadequate for his needs.”

“The decision to admit him was made by an emergency room doctor following one of his many attacks/outbursts – this one involving the use of a weapon,” he revealed.
Kate continued, “Fast forward to today, and after Jon removed Collin from treatment, my son’s unpredictable and violent behavior has sadly continued towards Jon, Hannah and others around him.”
“Collin’s distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues he has always struggled with. As many people who have family members struggling with mental health issues can attest, it’s rare and shockingly sad when a complete fabrication occurs, and this is just another heartbreaking aspect of this fight. “All parent-child relationships are complex, but when mental illness is involved, it’s very complicated and painful, not to mention easy for others to understand,” he added.

“I spent $1 million to get my son out,” the Gosselin patriarch claimed, explaining that he used testimony and psychological evaluations to help build his case. “Everything I have, I spend.”
According to the news outlet, Collin wrote to her while she was at the Philadelphia-based psychiatric hospital Fairmount Behavioral Health System in 2017 and asked for her help.
