Katy Perry talks about why she and her fiance, Orlando Bloom, are taking an 84-year-old veteran to court!
Last month, the “Hot N Cold” singer made headlines after she and Bloom reportedly tricked an elderly man named Carl Westcott into selling his $15 million Santa Barbara home in 2020.
The two sides have been embroiled in a legal battle, but Perry’s retaliation has not gone down well with the victim’s family, who have branded him hateful of elders.
Now, the pop star set a straight record.
Katy Perry’s Lawyer Warns She Doesn’t Hate Parents
In a new update on the case, Perry’s attorney, Jay Cooper, denied all claims that his client is intolerant of the elderly and those who serve the country.

The accusation of “personal disgust” reportedly came from Westcott’s family, who accused the “American Idol” judge of using his lawsuit to punish the octogenarian.
Remember that Perry and Bloom are asking for $2.6 million in damages, but the veteran’s family cited recent $225 million in catalog sales as the reason he doesn’t want monetary damages for anything.
However, Cooper fought back on behalf of his client, telling RadarOnline, “None of the allegations are true at all. Katy has never, under any circumstances, at any time, made negative remarks or disparaged the elderly, mentally ill, or veterans.
The statement continued, “Katy herself has been involved in significant charitable efforts on behalf of many disadvantaged individuals in our society.”
As for why she sued Wescott, Cooper stated, “The only reason Katy Perry is pursuing litigation is because she signed a written contract with Mr. Westcott, who was very competent at the time, for the house she wanted to live in with her family.”

The $2.6 million in damages was reportedly related to Perry’s earnings if he could rent out the veteran’s home after buying it.
Veteran Accuses Perry & Bloom of Bringing Home Despite Mental Insanity
As The Blast reports, Perry and Westcott’s legal battle has been going on for about three years, and the bedridden veteran made some damning accusations against the power couple in his filing.
The elderly man claimed that a few days before selling the mansion to the couple, he had undergone six hours of spinal surgery and was under the influence of heavy painkillers given to him when signing the contract.
However, when the painkillers wear off, he realizes he can sell the house for a higher amount and believes Perry and Bloom are “conning” him to make the maximum profit.
“After leaving the hospital, Mr. Westcott was prescribed at least two opiates in pill form that he had to continue to take for pain, which he took as prescribed several times each day,” excerpts of his lawsuit read.
Westcott, who now suffers from Huntington’s Disease, strongly believes he was not in the right frame of mind when he signed the deal. “The combination of his age, weakness from his back condition and recent surgery, and the opiates he was taking several times a day rendered Mr. Westcott insane,” his lawsuit reads.

He wants the court to void the contract because “he lacked the mental capacity to understand the nature and possible consequences.”
He also claimed that the famous couple, through their business agent, Bernie Gudvi, knew about the situation because he never listed the property, and did not speak to the broker about his house being sold.
The $15 million mansion has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, and Westcott allegedly bought it just two months before it was taken from her by her singer and actress fiancé.
In July 2022, the elderly veteran sent an email to Berkshire Hathaway, the real estate agency, and stated “that he does not want to sell his house” in his capacity as buyer and seller. However, he received a response saying Perry and Bloom “didn’t want to leave” the house and that he was “obliged to complete the sale.”
For the trial, which will take place in September, Westcott will not be present in person due to her poor health, but her son-in-law, Kameron Westcott, who is the star of “The Real Housewives Of Dallas,” will be in court.
