Keke Palmer has responded to the US Supreme Court’s recent crackdown on affirmative action.
“Akeelah and the Bee” shared her humorous — but serious — thoughts on the Court’s resolution to declare race-based decisions in college application procedures unconstitutional in a video posted to social media. Regarding higher education, affirmative action typically addresses admissions policies to increase the number of minority students on campus, including African-Americans and Hispanics.
Keke Palmer Opens Up About African-Americans’ Upcoming Distrust of Government
Although some colleges are tight-lipped about their admissions process, race is a significant factor among the select few schools that reject most applicants.
follow Reutersa survey conducted by the National Association for College Admission Counseling in 2019 detailed that race affects a “substantial” or “moderate” percentage of a quarter of college decisions on admission applications, while more than half of schools declare that their decisions are not influenced by race.
With a majority of the Supreme Court ruling that racial allowances affecting admissions decisions are unconstitutional, some people have voiced their concerns. One person who reacted immediately to the court ruling that effectively ended decades of precedent that had previously allowed US colleges to use such programs to increase diversity on campus was Palmer.

The mother-of-one uploaded a minute-long video showing her sitting in a car, wearing a gray hoodie and glasses with an overlay that read, “WHAT ARE WE DOING!?!? As a millennial I am ENOUGH.”
Begins with a recollection of his conversation with Vice President Kamala Harris about how the ongoing tragedies facing African-Americans will cause them to not “trust the government anymore.”
“People want us to get involved and want us to be engaged, and we want to, but it’s hard to get involved and get involved when there’s so much mistrust. Like, how did you guys overturn Roe v. Wade? How do you guys undo affirmative action? At this point, will we be isolated again?” said the 29-year-old half-jokingly.
Palmer later claimed it “got to the point where nothing was safe,” and the apparent struggle against the Blacks made it “difficult to get anything done.” “At this point, do I have to go after them? Do I have to run into the building? Because none of this works,” he shouted in conclusion.
The actor’s eyes apparently made an impact on his fans, when someone typed in the comments, “? THIS!!! Millennials finished seeing it all in Chile,” and another wrote, “No dead donkeys … millennials don’t get enough credit. I mean, I was sitting in 1st grade watching a plane hit the World Trade Center on live tv… fast forward to today….?.”
“Our ancestors did WORK. Now we have to dig in and DO IT AGAIN. Let’s go!,” a third person exclaimed, while another added, “Yeah maybe it’s our turn to storm the capital.. but I’m not climbing the wall. Lol.”
Meanwhile, a fifth netizen commented, “THANK YOU for being one of the FEW celebrities who aren’t afraid to talk about this issue!!” and the sixth states, “we need to cancel this lifetime appointment…”
A Similar Response to Overturning Roe V. Wade
Long before Palmer’s Instagram rant, his Hollywood colleagues were slamming the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade 410 US 113 – landmark decision that previously established that the US Constitution inherently protects a pregnant woman’s freedom to have an abortion.
According to The Blast, “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson used the opportunity to officiate last year’s BET Awards ceremony to make a profound speech. He began by praising his colleagues for representing their “Black Excellence” before singling out rapper Lizzo for giving a phenomenal performance of “About D*mn Time” and pledging to donate $1 million to Planned Parenthood amid the SCOTUS ruling on June 24, 2022. for overturning Roe v. Wade.
The “I Can Do Bad All by Myself” star then chided her peers who have yet to take a stand, saying, “It’s about time we talk about the fact that guns have more rights than a woman. It’s a sad day in America. A weapon that can take life has more rights than a woman that can give life if she wants to.”
Others who spoke out against the reversal were former First Lady Michelle Obama, Duchess Meghan, Rita Moreno, Jodie Sweetin and Laura Prepon.
