The near-instant ability to communicate with anyone in the world on social media, including celebrities, may be great, but it can also act as an opportunity for users to spread negativity without consequence.
The 40-year-old talk show queen has unfortunately dealt with her negative side online.
Clarkson has faced social media trouble for many elements of her life, from her personal life to her appearance. However, mistress “Kellyoke’s” latest troll defense isn’t for herself; she stepped up to defend actress and current TikTok sensation, Valerie Bertinelli!
Bertinelli Embraces Her Vulnerability, Despite the Inevitable Madness of Online Negativity
The “One Day at a Time” alumna has organized her social media platforms in recent years to revolve around transparency and reflect on her healing journey. Bertinelli, who has shared much of his life with his followers either on TikTok or through his writings, is also not afraid to speak his mind.
The “Enough Is Enough” author openly discusses her decades-long relationship with food and weight; her latest book examines her decision to take back her power from her insecurities and put confidence in the driver’s seat.
Unfortunately, Bertinelli’s honesty and transparency are often taken advantage of by ‘keyboard warriors’ and online trolls who see fit to take advantage of the actress’ weaknesses.
The Blast has reported on many aspects of the online hate Bertinelli has received over the years, including her emotionally honest conversations about healing from her divorce and her ex-husband’s ‘narcissism’. Many trolls have expressed their annoyance at Betinelli’s continued discussion of the hindering aspects of his life, which he quickly (and frequently) shuts down.
“There are a few of you who don’t understand and think, ‘omg get over it,'” the 62-year-old explained recently in an Instagram story. “I’m done. I’m more of a narcissist; I have long hated narcissists.”
Bertinelli’s passionate and sometimes tearful discussions of his negative self-image didn’t stop haters from giving him a piece of their mind.
In an Instagram post from July 2021, Bertinelli transparently recorded himself during a dark moment fueled by negative self-talk.
“Someone decided to show I needed to lose weight,” Bertinelli tearfully told the camera. “You’re not helping.”
The subject of her weight has also crept into Clarkson’s social media content over the years and in some cases, trolls have invaded her content entirely; a Fourth Of July celebration tweet from 2017 briefly about Clarkson’s weight.
In a particularly unhelpful move, a troll tweeted, “you’re fat,” in response to his tweet thanking those who serve in the United States.
Clarkson later amended the troll’s statement by adding, “…and still [redacted] great!” to their statement in the answer. (per USA Today)
Clarkson Has Some Strong Truths For Those Who Talk Bad About Others!
Real power is recognizing other people’s negative projections & punching them flat in the face with all the positive, amazing, smart, beautiful light that seeps from your pores. Pity the people who talk bad about others because while some of us dance, others are too scared. https://t.co/X03QKyFzIc

Clarkson once defended Bertinelli from Twitter critics, who came for Bertinelli’s weight.
In a powerful exchange, Clarkson quoted one of Bertinelli’s tweets; The author of “Losing It” posted a screenshot of a troll’s comment on a thread from Food Network Kitchen. The troll has called Bertinelli “very fat.”
Bertinelli has no time for the haters. He will post screenshots and give their negative thoughts.
“Wow,” Betinelli began his tweet, “Someone’s always there to remind me to tidy up my negative thoughts again. Thank you for reminding me that I am greater than my body.”
Clarkson saw the tweet and brought some reality into the thought process of online haters.
“True power is recognizing other people’s negative projections & punching them right in the face,” Clarkson wrote. “with all the positive, wonderful, intelligent, beautiful light that seeps from your pores. Pity the people who talk bad about others because while some of us are dancing, others are too scared,” he concluded. [via Cosmopolitian]
Clarkson’s advice to Bertinelli was well received by their Twitter audience. Their exchange received over a thousand likes!
The negativity of others has recently inspired Clarkson to take a giant stand. Last month, he was granted a restraining order against two people he accused of stalking.
According to The Blast’s report on the matter, both restraining orders are permanent. They were filed in December 2022.
