In August of last year, Lola’s debut single, “Paranoia Silverlining” was released. He spoke with PEOPLE about the start of his music career.
“I’ve been making music since I was 14 and never had anything that I thought was valid enough to write about or something that resonated with me. So I came up with the idea of ’Silverlining Paranoia,’ which is the notion that maybe your greatest fear doesn’t exist and that everyone, like it or not, [are] will be paranoid,” he explained.

“It’s just a great theme for what’s going on in my life at the moment and I really like the vibe and the sound of everything. I thought, ‘If I don’t do this now, I don’t know if I will,’ because I can second guess myself a lot of times.”
Lola explained that time and experience helped her write.
“I’m at this point in my life where I really want to get the ball rolling,” he said. “I have a lot of material to write. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve had more life experience in terms of relationships and friendships. It’s a good introduction to the kind of music I like to make and the things I like to talk about.”
