Kelsea Ballerini is currently on tour promoting her new album “Subject to Change,” after recently splitting from her husband of five years Morgan Evans.
The 29-year-old country singer says she is on an “active healing journey,” and admits that not every day is easy. During one of her recent concerts, Ballerini was singing her song “What I Have,” which brought the singer to tears.

Kelsea Ballerini recently released a powerful new song called “What I Have,” which Ballerini co-wrote with Cary Barlowe and Alysa Vanderhym. The song is part of his latest album, “Subject to Change,” which was released on September 23.
“My neighbor’s grass hit the road / But that doesn’t mean I ain’t green / I’ve been comparing shiny new toys / It’s just the root of my joy stealer / I know it’s just a horse show,” Ballerini sings in the first verse.
The song continues, “Because I’ve got a roof over my head / I’ve got a warm body in the bed / I’m doing fine, right where I’m at / With what I’ve got.”
The singer was playing guitar for “What I Have” during his recent concert when suddenly, he burst into tears. Realizing that Ballerini can’t sing, the fans take over and sing the lyrics to her loudly as she continues to play the guitar.

At one point, the country music singer turned and faced away from the crowd, raised her hands to her eyes and wiped away tears.
Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans Split

Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans, 37, married in December 2017, but after five years of marriage, the “Miss Me More” singer announced her divorce from Evans earlier this year, on August 29.
“This very difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth and effort that has finally come to an end,” he said in a statement. “It’s hard to find the words here … but I feel so grateful for all these years of marriage to Morgan and look forward to the next season.”
Morgan Evans also released her own statement later that day, writing, “I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I have separated. I wish it was the other way around but unfortunately it is not to be.”
When speaking with PEOPLE about her recent divorce, Kelsea Ballerini said the decision was “not chaotic” or “uncertain,” ultimately saying “It didn’t work out.”
“That’s sometimes a hard narrative to think about when you’re just like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is a good person and I’m a good person and this isn’t good anymore’,” he admits.
Ballerini continued, “It’s easy to embarrass yourself and it’s easy to hide, and I just want to be proud of myself in 10 years in this season of my life. This is not only a difficult time in my life, it is also a festive time in my life. I don’t want to hide it because that’s important to feel.”
