Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes are creating new milestones together.
The Grammy-nominated country singer who rose to fame with her debut album “The First Time” was previously married to Morgan Evans before they decided to call it quits in 2022. Ballerini shared that she couldn’t wait to introduce Stokes to her world and then visit Charleston, where the Outer Banks was filmed. Despite their initial splash on stage at the CMAs in 2016, the journey of their nearly 4-year marriage has been full of discomfort and difficulty, with Ballerini even having to spend a few nights on the couch. Finally, she realized that the marriage was over and decided to file for divorce.

The podcast host asked Ballerini if she could remember when she realized her marriage wasn’t going to work, prompting the singer to reveal that she’s known him for “a long time.” She shared that she and the 37-year-old have been through a breakup, years of couples therapy, and many nights spent sleeping on the couch. He explains that their relationship has taken a lot of work for a long time.
The National Academy Music Award winner went on to share that she remembers when she had to sleep on the couch the night before the CMAs because during an arena rehearsal, she tried to text her estranged husband, but he responded by saying, “I’ll see you at [sic] the carpet.”
Although he didn’t say what year it happened, it aligns with the narrative of his song “Blindsided.”
