On Thursday evening, the “Something to Believe” singer shared a statement that began, “Kesha and Dr. Luke have agreed to a resolution of the lawsuit, and have agreed to issue and post a joint statement regarding the resolution. In settling the lawsuit, Kesha and Dr. Luke each states the following.”

“God only knows what happened that night,” Kesha said in her statement. “As I always say, I can’t tell you everything that happened. I can’t wait to close the door on this chapter of my life and start a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”

“While I appreciate Kesha once again admitting that she cannot tell what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened,” Dr Luke said in his statement. “I have never smoked drugs or assaulted him and would never do that to anyone.”

He went on to say, “For the sake of my family, I have fought hard to clear my name for almost 10 years. It’s time for me to put this difficult thing behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”

In 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against her longtime music producer Dr. Luke, claims that he sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally betrayed her. In a statement made at the time, her attorney, Mark Geragos, told People magazine, “We are prepared to fight until she agrees to walk out of his life forever.”

She explained that the abuse had been going on for years but did not feel comfortable taking action against her. “He has tried, [but] he is not a confrontational person,” he said. “The effort is always filled with psychological warfare, [predatory behavior] and things like that. He finally got to a place where he was surrounded by enough supportive people that he felt he could finally do it, and felt he had to. He can’t go this way. Getting out of the contract is second to freeing himself from his control.”

“I’ve spent some time with him recently and I’d say his thinking is as good as I’ve seen,” Geragos said. “Obviously no one wants to get involved in litigation and make things like this public, but he understands he has to take a stand. I applaud her courage to speak to the wider issue of domestic violence. This speaks to the untold stories of this industry and society at large.”

Dr. Luke denied the allegations, and filed a countersuit against both Kesha and her mother, Pebe Sebert, for breach of contract and defamation. Her attorney, Christine Lepera, told People magazine that “Kesha and her mother engaged in a campaign to publish outrageous and untrue statements about Dr. Luke to third parties, including vile and false statements about alleged physical and mental abuse of Kesha.”

Earlier this month, the “Fine Line” singer released her fifth studio album, Gag Order. It was released by RCA Records and Kemosabe Records. This will be his last album under Kemosabe due to the contract the 36-year-old singer signed when he was just 18 years old.

Days after her album was released in May, the “Too Far Gone” singer sat down for an interview with US Sun to discuss her collaboration with producer Rick Rubin and stated that she wants to “empower” individuals with her new album.

“I’ve always wanted to empower people, lift them up and encourage them to love themselves,” she said. “I have wonderful moments – I cry for joy. And on the same day, I can also have severe anxiety seven hours later. It would be a disservice not to tell people that my emotions go in and out like the tides of the ocean.”

“Rick told me that the best songs are prayers. And that stuck with me — that’s how I see my music,” he explains. “Not my job. It’s not just the activities I do that I enjoy. This is a prayer. And hopefully, it can resonate with other people, and they can relate to it,” he added.

Later this year, Kesha will embark on a small domestic tour to promote her new album. The tour begins on October 15, in Dallas, Texas, and will end in Los Angeles, California, on November 18.
