During Kesha’s appearance on The Best Show podcast, Kesha told host Tom Scharpling “the whole story” as she tried to hug stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld at a red carpet event at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC in 2017.

“You want to know the whole story? Really sad,” said Kesha. “You’re going to get a lot of clicks after this because I don’t think I’ve ever told the whole story.”

“So I studied TM [transcendental meditation] from David Lynch, the David Lynch Foundation,” he explained. “I like to meditate, so he was like, ‘Can you do an event that’s a charity event?’ I’m in the middle of a tour. I’m exhausted, but I really love David Lynch and I heard that Jerry Seinfeld is going to be there.”

He explained that “Seinfeld” means a lot to him, especially when he’s on tour. “I used to take my computer with me when there were CDs, and I would take them around the world internationally, small DVDs. When it got bumpy on the plane, I’d appear on Seinfeld and I’d say, “All’s right in the world,'” he explained.

She said she was “so excited” to see Jerry Seinfeld at the charity event “because he brings me peace and love and all the good things in the universe.” However, she went on to say, “And then he didn’t hug me in front of the camera. And it was the saddest, and funny, but also very sad, it was like the saddest moment of my life.

At the event, Kesha asked Jerry Seinfeld for a hug in front of 94.7 Fresh FM radio host Tommy McFly. He tells her that he is a big fan and asks for a fan. Seinfeld replied, “No thanks.” After he walks away, Seinfeld tells McFly, “I don’t know who that is.” When McFly told him that he had just rejected pop star Kesha, Seinfeld replied, “Well, I wish her the best.”

A few days later, in an interview with Extra, Seinfeld tried to defend himself from the viral hug. She said that it was nothing personal towards the “Living In My Head” singer but explained that she did not know him and was not in the habit of hugging strangers.

“I’m 63 years old. I don’t know every pop star, I don’t know everybody,” he said at the time. “When you get to my age and you’ve done some things, you have your own reality. In my reality, I don’t hug strangers. I need to see someone, say hello. I have to start somewhere.”

The following month, the “Only Love Can Save Us Now” singer revealed that she almost gave up hugging for good following the incident. “I had moments where I thought to myself, ‘Maybe I should stop trying to hug everyone and attack them.’ And then I was like, f— that, no,” Kesha said via Entertainment Weekly. “I like to hug. A hug is magical, a hug is beautiful. It is a beautiful exchange of beautiful soul energy. ‘I accept you.’ It’s this beautiful connection.”

In May, Kesha released her new album “Gag Order” to the delight of fans. The “All I Need Is You” singer later sat down for an interview with US Sun to discuss her collaboration with producer Rick Rubin and her hopes for her new album.

“I’ve always wanted to empower people, lift them up and encourage them to love themselves,” she said. “I have wonderful moments – I cry for joy. And on the same day, I can also have severe anxiety seven hours later. It would be a disservice not to tell people that my emotions go in and out like the tides of the ocean.”

“Rick told me that the best songs are prayers. And that stuck with me — that’s how I see my music,” he explains. “Not my job. It’s not just the activities I do that I enjoy. This is a prayer. And hopefully, that can resonate with other people, and they can relate to it.”
