The divorce drama between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner continues to take different forms in the headlines!
In a shocking twist amid the legal battle between the Hollywood icon and his estranged wife, a new development has emerged. The entrepreneur will pay a sum of money from her ex-husband’s divorce lawyer’s fees after a judge ruled in her favor.
Kevin Costner’s Estranged Wife Set to Pay Part of His Attorney’s Fees
In a landmark ruling, Judge Thomas Anderle ruled Wednesday that the 49-year-old will be responsible for covering more than $14,000 in legal fees for the three-time Golden Globe Award winner.
This cost, he said, was incurred while seeking clarity on the woman’s interpretation of their prenuptial agreement, marking an important turning point in their divorce dispute. PEOPLE reported that Judge Anderle emphasized the importance of this decision, considering it a “case of consequence.”
Last month, in a request for an order submitted to the California Superior Court and obtained by the outlet, the 68-year-old attorney urged the court to compel Baumgartner to address their inquiries.

They claim he refused to reveal his full position on the validity of the prenuptial agreement (PMA). According to the document they filed:
“The objections he presented in an effort to not reveal his contention are trivial. He said he didn’t understand words like ‘understand’ or ‘negotiation,’ so he couldn’t answer this finding.”
It also outlined legal fees of $14,237.50, insisting that the discovery process should not be considered a game. It noted that the “Yellowstone” actor “shouldn’t have had to spend money to file a motion.”
According to the provisions of the prenuptial agreement, the handbag designer was awarded a payment of $1.5 million. Contesting could put his payout at risk and potentially cost him more of Costner’s legal costs.
The recent ruling in favor of the award-winning actor came after The Blast reported in July that he was pushing his ex-partner to shoulder the burden of his hefty $99,225 in legal fees to contest the settlement.
The prenup includes a provision that expressly states, “the party in authority … shall be entitled … to be reimbursed by the party not in authority for all costs and expenses incurred by it.”
In his filing, the “Bull Durham” star “respectfully reminded” the court of the $1.5 million he set aside in a bank account for Baumgartner per their agreement. Despite this provision, he expressed his doubts about accessing these funds, fearing that it might affect his legal position in their divorce proceedings.
Christine Baumgartner Rejects More Child Support

In the middle of their divorce, the model argued that the previously determined child support was insufficient. Although they agreed on joint custody of their three teenage children: Cayden, Hayes, and Grace — the battle continues over the proper amount of financial support the child’s mother should receive.
Ahead of their Aug. 31 hearing, the mother of three asked the court to force the Primetime Emmy Award winner to provide nearly $200,000 in monthly child support, a whopping $46,000 increase from the original agreement.
The ex-wife of the “Hidden Figures” actor is looking for a large amount of money until their children reach the age of 18. According to a brief written by her legal team: “The court is required to set child support at a level where, when the children are with Christine, they live a lifestyle that is somewhat comparable to the lifestyle they enjoyed when they were with their father.”
Baumgartner’s legal team also argued that the children should live in a home the same size as Costner’s while in their mother’s custody. They emphasize that emerging adults have access to “comparable vacations,” which may involve private air travel, while with them.
His lawyers went on to argue that since the children were having a luxury vacation with their father, on a private plane, the Family Code mandated that “The Bodyguard” star should provide enough child support to ensure they could have the same luxury vacation with their mother .
The attorney explained, “In this case, Christine’s requested child support guidelines of $175,057 per month would not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it would be sufficient to allow him to provide a relatively comparable lifestyle for the children.”
