Kevin Costner’s Ex-Wife Wants Child Support To Cover Luxury Private Trips For Her & Kids

Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, argued that the child support order won’t cut it — she wants their three children to continue to live lavishly.

The handbag designer isn’t letting her estranged husband off the hook by paying $129k a month in child support. Baumgartner filed documents asking the court to reconsider the amount of child support the “Yellowstone” star paid due to several factors, including maintaining the same standard of living when the children are with him.

Christine Baumgartner, Kevin Costner’s Former Challenge Set Child Support Payments

The former couple share three teenage children, Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and 12-year-old Grace. Although they have found common ground on joint custody during their divorce proceedings, the two are still at loggerheads over how much financial support the children’s mother is entitled to.

Ahead of their Aug. 31 hearing, the mother of three is asking the court to order the “Hidden Figures” actor to pay nearly $200,000 in monthly child support – an increase of $46,000 – from the agreed upon amount. Costner’s ex-wife is asking for a huge amount in child support until their son turns 18.

“The court is required to set child support at a level where, when the children are with Christine, they live a lifestyle that is reasonably comparable to the lifestyle they enjoyed when they were with their father,” Baumgartner’s legal team wrote in a brief obtained by US Weekly.

The message continued and read, “The Court’s order must allow the children to be supported at a level commensurate with Kevin’s substantial wealth, even if that level of support also enhances Christine’s standard of living.”

Baumgartner’s legal team said their children should live in a “comparable home” to Costner’s when they are in their mother’s custody. Additionally, they stated that children should be able to go on “comparable holidays” when they are with her, including private flights.

His attorney stated in the brief: “Because the children fly on private jets to go on luxury vacations when they are with their father, the Family Code dictates that Kevin must pay sufficient child support to Christine so that the children can go on comparable vacations when they with him.”

“In this case, Christine’s requested child support guidelines of $175,057 per month would not be sufficient to replicate Kevin’s lifestyle, but it would be sufficient to allow her to provide a relatively comparable lifestyle for the children,” the attorney explained.

Not long ago The Blast reported that the mother of three’s lawyer defended her request to increase child support. “Kevin will argue that Christine does not need to provide the children with many of the things that they are used to, because they can enjoy those things with Kevin,” the legal expert stated and then added:

“He was and continues to be the primary caretaker of the children. In 2022, Kevin has been away from Santa Barbara on location or on tour for several months. For the first six months of 2023, he was gone at least 50% of the time.”

The latest figures in the divorce determine that “Kevin’s cash flow available for support (based on the two calendar years 2021 and 2022) is at least $1,600,000 per month.” Additionally, he has “at least $17,000,000 in cash in his personal account.”

Additionally, the “A Perfect World” cast made an amazing amount of money on ‘Yellowstone,’ and was “paid approximately $11,000,000 for Season 4 ($1,100,000 per episode), and $10,000,000 for Season 5 ($1,250,000 per episode).”

Kevin Costner And His Kids Vacation In Canada Amid Court Drama

Divorce drama aside, the “Waterworld” star does know how to treat her kids—seven in all—to luxury trips. The Blast notes that shortly after the initial child support decision in July was announced, the doting father has been spending quality family time with his three children and Baumgartner.

However, a “pre-planned” holiday with his daughter and two sons prevented him from attending court on Wednesday, July 12. The actor of “The Bodyguard” scheduled the entrance to British Columbia, Canada, with the teenager several months before the court date was recently postponed.

Regarding the former couple’s pact on custody and why their teenage children spend time with the Oscar-winning actor unsupervised, Costner’s legal team wrote in the paper:

“The child is still a teenager and will probably come and go between her home and Christine’s home once she finds a new home.”
