Kevin Hart wants the world out of Will Smith and Chris Rock’s business. The comedian recently came to the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star’s defense as he urged the media to allow Smith to recover.
As you know, Smith has made headlines after his controversial actions at the 2022 Oscars, where he slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The “Central Intelligence” star, during a recent appearance on “Drink Champs,” voiced her support for Smith, whom she referred to as her “brother.” When asked by host NORE and DJ EFN to choose between Ice Cube and Smith, Hart didn’t hesitate to choose the latter.

“Dark times deserve a great light,” he began “I’m not going to insult my brother, and I’m going to say, Will Smith.” The stand-up comedian explained his decision to side with the “I Am Legend” actor saying, “Will Smith is af**king– he’s not just a legend, he’s not just a GOAT… [he] is the reason why the idea of African Americans attached to global IP is so common.”
Hart continued, “Studios took a gamble on more color cues because of the work that Will Smith, and Denzel did in the beginning, right? You need a face that gives universal returns. So I’m not going to insult Will and act like he never was, and isn’t, that guy.”
In response to the host joking about Smith being a “thug,” Hart urged people to be allowed to make “mistakes,” and that they should be “given time to recover.” Explaining the issue, the BET Award winner advised, “And this is no longer a world problem, it’s a Will and Chris problem. Let them deal with that. The world should get out of it and let them recover.”
When asked by NORE and DJ EFN if he supported Smith’s decision to stand up for his wife Jada, the Hart Productions founder denied the sentiment, saying that was not the case. “I think it’s something deeper than anyone has ever understood. That’s why I say the world is now out of it and should get away from it and move on. Let two men be men and figure it out. if they choose it.”
‘Jumanji’ Cast Hopes For Peace
This isn’t the first time Hart has been involved in the Smith-Rock saga, and his sentiment remains that “The Pursuit of Happyness” actor should be given some grace. As The Blast reported in July, the comedian shared his thoughts during the premiere of “DC League of Super-Pets.”

“Will is sorry, you know. He was in a better space, certainly than what he was looking for. Humans are humans, and as humans, we sometimes make mistakes. So it’s not about talking about the past. It’s about recognizing the present and doing your best to move forward,” he said on the red carpet. He also expressed his desire for the two men to forget their past.
“I can only hope that they both find a way to find peace in that and move past it. I just love good energy. I love seeing people be the best they can be. I still love him, I still love Chris.”
The 43-year-old even backed up his desire to make peace with action. That same month, he made an appearance at David Chapelle and Rock’s “The Closer” show at Madison Square Garden and, to everyone’s surprise, arrived with a goat.
Before the show ended, Hart said he had a gift for the “Grownups” star and handed over a goat wearing a gold chain. He tells Rock that the goat gift is a representation of him being the Greatest of All Time before revealing that the creature’s name is Will Smith.
‘King Richard’ Star Lands First Role After Slap
Hart’s defense of Smith comes a week after the veteran Hollywood star landed his first major role since the Oscar incident. According to reports, the 54-year-old will appear in the Paramount Pictures film “Brilliance.”
