Killer Mike shares new details about Grammy night that went viral, including Jay-Z’s plans to honor him on stage for dominating the Rap category.

The iconic rapper won three Grammys for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. However, he barely enjoyed his victory when authorities escorted him out of the event in handcuffs due to an incident with an “overzealous” security guard.

The 48-year-old explained that the Roc Nation founder plans to honor him while accepting the Dr. Dre Impact Award. However, Jay-Z was unable to contact Mike as he was unfortunately taken away in handcuffs. In his words:

“What the hell Jay hit me. I didn’t realize when I was going through my thing, Jay hit me like, ‘Hold on, hold on. I want to toast you.’ And then he hit me later and said, ‘I’ll give you my time for that speech.’ So shout out to Hov!”

Although he found out about Jay-Z’s intentions when it was too late, Mike insists that it’s the thought that counts. “It’s love, though,” the 48-year-old shared, noting the couple reacted positively to the ruined Grammy night.

“He and I laughed. He said, ‘You want to go and be locked up at the biggest moment. I am laughing. It’s funny,” Mike continued. Regarding his arrest, the Hip-hop icon did not share additional details about the incident but declared that any attempt to destroy his image was futile.

There are various conspiracies surrounding Mike’s encounter with the police, but these theories mean nothing to the rapper, who says several Black icons have gone through similar experiences. He said:

“It didn’t work against Martin [Luther King Jr.]it didn’t work against Malcolm [X], was unsuccessful against Mandela. Not effective against Method. Whatever the devil gives you … God, if you stay in tune, man. He will multiply the good from the bad.”

On a positive note, however, Mike expressed gratitude for the incident, saying: “I’m thankful for the Grammys, I’m thankful for the b——–. B——– is the best fertilizer in the field. I got a chance to sit by myself for three hours and thank God and ask for praise and be thankful for what I received.”

“An official told someone on his team that he might be released tonight from the arena. It’s not clear if he was booked here and what he was charged with,” shared a reporter at X. In a follow-up tweet, the reporter claimed Mike’s “misbehavior” was unrelated to the Grammys.

Another source described the incident as “inconsequential,” while similar reports claimed the arrest was linked to an “altercation” involving security at the event. Grammy contenders are also worried about the legal drama, with Recording Academy President Harvey Mason trying to defuse the situation.

A day after his arrest, Mike expressed gratitude to God for blessing his patience with a reward that saved his son’s life. Instead of reacting negatively to the legal drama, he stayed calm, meditated, and prayed.

The 48-year-old man said his prayers were not in vain when he received a call informing him that his eldest son had finally found a kidney donor after being on the transplant list for three years. In Mike’s words:

“I can succumb to anger or evil and speak s—. But I’m just grateful,” he shared. I am thankful. Not only did I win, but I am thankful that God showed me within 24 hours that there is something more important than the gift you have worked for. And that’s my family and my son, and I’m just grateful. I thank Him.”
