Current TIME 100 Summit on Tuesday, Kim Kardashian spoke about her future in criminal justice reform and expressed her desire to make it a prominent aspect of her career. When asked if he could imagine life without being in the spotlight, he said, per Many people“I’m also happy to be a full-time lawyer.”
Kardashian went on to explain that her journey in criminal justice reform has opened her eyes to many things happening in the world. “The trip really opened my eyes,” he said. “It’s been exciting because there’s so much to do … I brought my sister Khloé [Kardashian] went to jail for the first time last week, and it was a real eye-opener for him,” added Kardashian.
Although the SKIMS founder is not yet a licensed attorney, he hopes his efforts in the movement will be “the most meaningful work of his life.” During a discussion with moderator Poppy Harlow, she added, “I always joke with my mom — who’s my manager — I say Kim K. is going to retire and I’m just going to be a lawyer.”
Kim Kardashian Supports Wrongfully Convicted Prisoners

In 2017, Kardashian began her journey in criminal justice reform after hearing about the Alice Marie Johnson case. Johnson has been in prison since 1996 for helping facilitate communications in drug trafficking cases. Despite hopes that he would be granted a pardon by then-President Obama in 2016, Johnson was not one of the 231 individuals granted amnesty, most of whom had similar nonviolent drug charges.
The reality star learned of Johnson’s story through a video report by Mic. He retweeted the clip, writing “This is so unfair” in the caption, and started advocating for Pardoning Johnson.
In August 2020, Johnson was finally released from prison, and Kardashian continues to support other wrongfully convicted prisoners. One such case involved a father who was imprisoned following the elementary school shooting tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, in which his daughter was killed.

In May 2019, Kardashian revealed her aspirations to pursue a career in law and follow in the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., who famously represented OJ Simpson in the 1995 murder trial of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
After two years of burning candles, Kardashian sat the first-year law student exam (known as the “baby bar”) in December 2021 and passed with flying colors. Excited, the 42-year-old took to Twitter to share the news, saying his law school journey “wasn’t easy.”

In his emotional notes, he write, “OMFGGGG I PASSED THE BABY BAR EXAM!!!! Looking in the mirror, I am very proud of the woman who looks back today in the reflection. In a lengthy sequence, he also revealed that prominent attorneys had warned him that the baby bar has a “harder pass rate” than the actual bar exam and “is an almost impossible journey.”
Despite the difficulties, Kardashian persevered and succeeded and now feels “great to be here and on my way to achieving my goals.”
