The campaign photos also featured legal documents on child pornography cases, which made it even more scandalous. In response to the massive wave of criticism, Balenciaga took down the post and other previous Instagram photos.
According to reports, a source close to the situation said Balenciaga made Kim an offer to do the 2023 campaign before the BDSM ad went live.

On Sunday, November 27, Kim released a statement on Twitter that read, “I appreciate the removal of the campaign and the apology by Balenciaga. While talking to them, I believe they understand the seriousness of this issue and will take necessary steps for this. not to happen again. Regarding my future with Balenciaga, I am re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, based on their willingness to accept accountability for something that should never have happened in the first place – & the actions I hope to see them take to protect children.”
