Saturday’s near-tragic experience has Kimora sharing her gratitude in several Instagram Stories.

“My house is on fire,” he wrote on the first Story slide that showed firefighters standing in front of a smoke-filled fireplace.

“My children and I are all fine. I cannot express enough my appreciation to the many battalions, echelons and units who attended us for hours today and very likely saved our lives. THANK YOU!”

Kimora adopted Gary at the age of 10 in 2020.

“I am lucky and very lucky to have a boy like that [Gary] and it is a very painless sensation. He just came down like he was born there,” he told US Weekly.

“We are a big group, a strong group. Everyone was always yelling at me, ‘Mom, mom help me do this, do that’ all the time. ‘Mother, mother, mother.’ So he, in that sense, has blended right in.”

The model and businesswoman recently visited Lima, Peru to give back and support the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, Smile Train. The organization helps local medical professionals with funding and resources to provide free cleft surgeries and comprehensive cleft care to children around the world.

“The trip to Lima to meet patients, doctors and families was rewarding beyond my imagination,” she told PEOPLE. “As an ambassador for Smile Train, I’ve worked to raise money and awareness, but seeing first-hand the impact on people has been the highlight.”

The mother of five also said, “being a part of their story is an honor,” and she’s already planning another trip there.

Just last week on Giving Tuesday, Kimora shared a post on Instagram talking about her partnership with Smile Train.

“On this #GivingTuesday, my heart is filled with excitement as I partner with @SmileTrain, the world’s largest cleft organization!” her caption began.

“It’s no secret that my passion lies in making sure every child, regardless of circumstance, gets the gift of a smile. There is no better way to give back than to be a catalyst for transformation in a child’s life. Join me in spreading smiles and making a difference this #GivingTuesday!”
