Thelwell was arrested by police and escorted from Micklegate Bar. The crowd jeered at him and chanted, “God Save the King.”
Fortunately, neither Charles nor Camilla were hit by the four eggs that were launched.
The new King of England did not flinch at the flying chicken product and Camilla continued to greet fans during the attack.
Following the EGGS regional incident, King Charles III issued a statement regarding the statue as a tribute to his mother.
“The late Queen was always vigilant for the welfare of her subjects during her lifetime,” said King Charles III. “Now his image will watch over what will be Queen Elizabeth Square for centuries to come.”

The statue was completed in August before his death.
The King’s coronation is set for May 6, 2023, which happens to be the same day as Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s child’s fourth birthday.
Royal author Tom Bower insists the date of King Charles III’s coronation is “absolutely no” shade to his estranged son and daughter-in-law.
After Queen Elizabeth’s passing, Markle opened up in an interview with Diversity about his relationship with the longest reigning king.
Despite the drama the former royal sparked with her move to Montecito, CA, the ‘Archetypes’ podcast host had nothing but praise for her former in-laws.

Meghan said Queen Elizabeth was a “shining example” of female leadership.
When asked about His Majesty’s passing, the worldwide mourning and how it has affected her, Meghan admitted, “There has been an outpouring of love and support. I am truly grateful to be with my husband to support him, especially at that time.”
He was interested in the beauty of the queen’s eternal legacy.
“What’s beautiful is seeing the legacy he has [Prince Harry] grandma can go in many things. Of course, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what she looks like,” said the mother of two. “I feel very grateful to be able to spend time with him and get to know him. It was a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, ‘Now she’s reunited with her husband.’”
