King Charles III’s Coronation Might Include The Spice Girls

While the much-anticipated coronation of the United Kingdom’s King, King Charles III, is four months away, preparations are already underway and ready to include the iconic Spice Girls reunion.

Scheduled for May, the milestone could mark the award-winning British girl group’s first performance in over a decade, following their stellar reign from the Nineties.

Spice Girls May Reunite To Perform At King Charles III’s Coronation

The five Spice Girls consisting of Melanie Brown’ Mel B,’ Melanie Chrisholm’ Mel C,’ Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham, appear to be key elements in the upcoming coronation, which will be held as a three-day celebration from Saturday, May 6.

The Sun reports that Royal organizers want the star group to perform, and if the reunion happens, it will be the women’s first performance together since the 2012 Olympic closing ceremony.

Additionally, event planners are said to be eager to include them as “star signings” for the event, and women are “seriously considering” joining the “historic event.”

The insider stated, “Royal promoters are keen to get Britain’s biggest girl group and the Spice Girls seriously thinking about returning to the stage as a five-piece for such a historic event. Of course, the reality is that the Coronation is as special as the Olympics – at once a celebration and a unique performance.”

Mel B and Mel C, the OG stars of the group, are reportedly working to make the task a reality while also trying to convince their bandmates to participate. A week before the news of their inclusion, Mel C insisted the group was not thrilled about not performing at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert last June. He explains:

“With us girls, there’s a lot we want to do, but there are four, five people involved with family and other commitments and responsibilities. So, I think that was something we had to miss.”

Meanwhile, Mel B, in a recent interview, teased that the coronation event will include all five of the original members of the group created in 1994. He said, “I’m probably going to get scolded. It’s a project we’re really excited about. There are five of us.”

Since the group rose to fame in the nineties, they have achieved notable achievements with several chart-topping songs; however, they split in 2000, two years after Halliwell went solo.

Seven years later, the ladies reunited, with Beckham splitting after the Olympics and the others staying together until their latest show for a stadium tour in 2019. Mel C spoke to The Times about Beckham’s possible return soon. He stated, “That would be the ultimate dream. The door is always open for Victoria; we’d love to see her back.”

Not only is she keen to get the fashion designer back, but she’s also “longing to get back on stage” with her bandmate Bunton she told in her 47th birthday tribute. In her words, “Happy Birthday, @emmaleebunton. I love you more than words. I miss being back on stage with my baby. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer! Have the best, beautiful day.”

While fans are looking forward to news related to the Spice Girls ahead of the coronation, they certainly can’t wait to see the King officially installed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, as reported by The Blast. The coronation event is set to take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will not be as serious as the late Queen’s coronation in 1953, given the country’s financial situation.

However, it will be a royal affair in all its glory and “reflects the role of the king today and looks towards the future while being rooted in long-standing traditions and pageants.” Alongside the king, his wife of nearly two decades, Camilla Parker-Bowles, who is also Queen Consort, will be crowned on the special day.

What’s more, dignitaries from around the world will grace the event, where King Charles will be crowned with the 22-carat gold crown of Saint Edward when taking the oath.

While the royal coronation is a family affair, the King’s second child, Prince Harry, was excluded from the event in light of his claims in passages from his controversial memoir “Spare.”

The Blast reports that the Sunday Times Royal editor announced a few days into January that “Prince Harry has been written out of the script for the Coronation, with no official role in the service if he attends.” Only his brother, Prince William, will follow tradition by performing the “duke role” of kneeling and paying his respects to the king.

Speaking about Harry’s upcoming memoir, she accused William of a number of things, including physically assaulting her, which the older brother did not publicly respond to but chose to keep quiet for “the good of his family and the country.”
