King Charles paid tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the first anniversary of her death on Friday.
Charles praised the late king, who was Britain’s longest-reigning ruler, in a recorded speech which was written at Balmoral Castle.
The castle, located in Scotland, was His Majesty’s favorite royal residence. It is also where he died on September 8, 2022.
Charles remembers “with love his long life, devoted service and all that he meant to so many of us.”
“In celebrating the first anniversary of His Majesty’s death and my promotion, we fondly recall his long life, devotional service and all that he meant to so many of us,” said the King in his honor.
“I am also very grateful for the love and support that have been shown to my wife and myself throughout this year as we do our best to serve you all.”

Alongside the tribute, an image of the late Queen at the age of 42 wearing the Garter robes while wearing the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara was shared.
The formal color photograph, taken by Cecil Beaten in 1968, was personally chosen by the King to commemorate the anniversary.
In London, a 41-gun salute will be held in Hyde Park to commemorate the late monarch.

In another tribute on Instagram, a color photo of the late Queen was shared Friday morning.
“In loving and everlasting memory,” the image was captioned. “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022.”
Elsewhere, Prince William and Princess Kate have paid tribute to the late monarch on their social media pages, sharing a series of images of the Queen at various royal engagements.
“Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of the late Queen Elizabeth. We all miss you. W & C,” the Prince and Princess of Wales captioned their Instagram post.
King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, are not expected to make a public appearance and will instead spend the day “quiet and private” reflecting on the Balmoral estate.
It has been reported that the King did not invite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Royal Family gathering marking one year since the Queen’s death — despite being in Europe for the Invictus Games the following day.
