On Thursday afternoon, King Charles made his first statement since Queen Elizabeth II died around 1:30 pm ET on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
At the time, the Royal Family shared a black and white photo of the late Queen to their social media pages, revealing that she had died at the age of 96.

“The Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral this evening,” they tweeted. “The King and Queen will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Early Thursday morning, Buckingham Palace released a statement revealing that his poor health had taken a turn for the worse:
“Following further assessment this morning, the Queen’s doctor is concerned about Her Majesty’s health and has recommended that she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
At the time, Clarence House reported that at the time Prince Charles and his wife Camilla were at his side and Prince William was on his way. Immediate family members have been notified, with Prince Harry also traveling to be by his grandmother’s side in her final moments.

King Charles Releases First Statement After Queen’s Death
A message sent to the Royal Family’s social media account reads as follows:
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Royal Highness the Queen, is the saddest moment for me and all the members of my family.”
