Rapper Kodak Black’s attorney has broken his silence on his famous client’s recent arrest for alleged cocaine possession in Florida.
Bradford Cohen denounced the details of the arrest and claimed that he was certain the “rock” found on Black was not cocaine but Percocet.
Cohen also noted that Black had become dependent on prescription pills due to injuries sustained from an alleged beating by guards at the prison.

Speaking about Black’s recent arrest for drug possession in Plantation, Florida, Cohen gave a detailed description of his relationship with his client, claiming that he had represented him since he was “a child”.
The lawyer wrote, “A lawyer’s job is never easy. That statement could be amended to read the duty of a lawyer who cares about your case, and your well-being is never easy. I’ve been representing @kodakblack since he was little.”
Cohen then talked about Black’s time in federal prison and how the rapper ended up addicted to prescription pills due to injuries sustained from the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of prison guards.
“When he went to federal prison, he was beaten by guards so badly that he had to be hospitalized at one point. We sued the BOP, but Kodak said he wanted to move forward when he was released and asked me to drop the case. The injuries from the abuse plus the shot caused him to get the prescribed pain medication,” the lawyer said.
We’re told Kodak usually carries his prescription drugs in bags, and can be mistaken for other substances if they’re not marked. In this case, our source says this is how he holds the pill. Additionally, he was prescribed meditation following allegations of prison abuse and being the victim of a gunshot wound. Kodak’s lawyers will bring the perpetrator’s evidence to court.
Cohen’s comments came after Black, real name Bill Kapri, was charged with possession of cocaine by failing to park or stop a vehicle, and fabricating or tampering with physical evidence.
Kodak Black’s Lawyer Says ‘Rock’ Found On Him Possible ‘Percocet’
In a statement from Black’s attorney, he claimed that the rapper had become dependent on prescription drugs like “many in this country,” adding that what was found on his client after his latest arrest was not cocaine.
“Unfortunately, like many people across the country, he became dependent on the prescribed pills. In this latest case, it is my belief that the ‘rock’ that this officer found when tested was Percocet, not cocaine,” Cohen said.
The rapper’s attorney insisted that the test officers administered at the scene of the arrest was a “presumptive test for an illegal substance” and “it just turned blue.”
Concluding his statement, Cohen pointed out that Black “has doubled down on getting better with help from many people and has signed up for immersion rehab because of his addiction.”
He added: “Hopefully, he will be able to continue [sic] with the help he needs. The system punishes users with accusations of trafficking without a trademark. That is not what the legislature intended.”
The rapper was charged with possession of cocaine

As we previously reported, Black was booked into the Broward County Jail on Thursday, December 7, following his arrest on charges of possession of cocaine, improper parking or stopping of a vehicle, and tampering with or tampering with physical evidence.
This makes Black’s second arrest on drug charges as he was previously arrested in July last year for drug possession in South Florida.
Mug shot
At the time of his arrest in 2022, Black was charged with trafficking oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance. The rapper was eventually released on bail after being held at a Fort Lauderdale jail in Florida.
Black and his attorney have filed a request to dismiss the drug possession charge from last year, alleging that the 31 oxycodone tablets found on him were allegedly over-the-counter drugs, specifically Tylenol. Cohen described Black’s arrest as a “coordinated takedown”, noting that the drugs that were being tested were destroyed in the process.
