La La Anthony recently gave her two cents on marriage after experiencing it firsthand. The TV personality revealed that marriage is not what it seems and that most couples she knows are unhappy in their relationships.
This comes after La La split from her NBA husband, Carmelo Anthony, two years ago after getting together in 2010. While she is now single, the actress revealed that she and Carmelo’s only child, Kiyan, are worried about their love life.

La La Anthony Believes Married People Are ‘Miserable’
Two years after she filed for divorce from Anthony in 2021, La La released her thoughts on marriage. On a recent episode Breakfast Club, he states that marriage is a sham because most of his married friends are unhappy. “Most married people I know are miserable. And not happy.”
He also stated that they don’t “want to get married”. The “Power” actor then added that more people now hate the idea of marriage. “I don’t hear single people saying things like, ‘I want to get married’ or ‘I can’t wait to meet someone and get married.'”
Although it was the dream of many of his friends, things have changed now, as most of them no longer like the idea of marriage. He added, “You just start hearing it less and less. Like, before, that was the goal.” He then noted that while some are happy to be together, most married people tend to be “miserable” with their significant other.

The couple filmed some of their time together on the reality show “La La’s Full Court Life.” The show started a year after their wedding in 2010 and ran for five seasons. Although it was a hit among fans, the two eventually ended their love affair and filed for divorce.
In response to a question about why they broke up, the reality star stated that they had some “irreconcilable differences.” However, La La finally opened up about the main issue that caused them to drift apart.
Carmelo Anthony’s Move Affects Their Marriage

During the episode Call Her Dad podcast, La La stated that Carmelo’s move from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks affected their marriage. While the beauty entrepreneur was happy with the 2011 trade, she noted that it was the beginning of the end of her union with Carmelo.
The star, who is from New York, recalled that “there was nothing new” to return there. However, the move “complicated” things more than he expected. He said, “Now that I look back, that was the beginning of the death of marriage.”
He also stated that the media’s reaction to the move made it difficult for them. He recalls, “Things were hard with New York, just always being in the spotlight and people watching every little thing.” Since the divorce, her son, who she shares with Carmelo, has gotten pretty “protective” about her dating life.

The “You People” actress revealed on a recent episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” that Kiyan, 15, is worried about her seeing someone new. A teenager who witnessed the separation of her parents did not want La La to start dating someone before.
La La reveals that she wants her to stay single and doesn’t like anyone she sees after Carmelo. He said, “He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like it at all.”
She remembers asking him, “You just want your mom to be alone? Like, forever?” to which he replied, “Sort of.”
Although the youngster was only being protective, La La considered him selfish because he would “leave her in a heartbeat” whenever he wanted to go out with his friends. “He was like, ‘Okay, Mom, see you later. I’m going here.’ I was like ‘…but you don’t want me to have anyone.’”
