LaKeith Stanfield & Kasmere Trice Sued By Nanny Over Toxic Work Conditions

LaKeith Stanfield and his wife, Kasmere Trice, are being sued by a travel nanny for creating a toxic work environment and their refusal to pay her for her services after an eight-day trip.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the newlyweds, who walked down the aisle six months ago, are accused of creating toxic working conditions for the nannies, with “no breaks to use the toilet, eat, or shower.”

The woman, whose name we are withholding, claims she started working for Stanfield and his wife in October 2023 when she worked as a travel nanny for their son for an eight-day trip to New York City.

The “Atlanta” actor and his wife agreed to pay the nanny $500 per day for her services to watch over their infant child 24 hours a day. The trip started on October 31 and they spent the night at The Greenwich Hotel. She claims she began her duties “almost immediately,” with the couple leaving her alone with the child.

According to the legal filing, the woman claims that the baby spent the first night in her room and “consistently woke up every 2.5 hours, staying awake for about 45 minutes each time.”

By the next day, November 1, the nanny claimed she had “worked all day and night because the baby remained in her care until the next day.” During this time, Stanfield and his wife allegedly left him alone with their child.

The nanny further declared that Trice “consistently” texted her with specific instructions for their baby’s care, instructing her to have physical contact with the baby and use “specific words of encouragement.”

On November 2, the nanny and family moved to The Dominick Hotel where the party had adjoining rooms. According to the nanny, the star of “The Book of Clarence” and his wife left her to travel separately with their baby, and they arrived at the hotel shortly after.

That day, the Stanfields asked him to take their son to their room for just one hour, where he managed to eat lunch. Uninspiring working conditions allegedly continued with him citing one instance where he needed a break but was met with aggression.

“Today, [she] has a telemedicine call scheduled and requests a one-hour break for this call. Although Trice gave her an hour’s rest, she was met with aggression and attitude when she brought it up,” the document reads.

Following the first difficult days, the nanny claims that she spoke to the Stanfields, asking for at least four hours a day off. She claims Trice agreed to her terms and promised to release her after 2pm, but it wasn’t until 4pm that the couple took over custody of their child.

Before the start of his break, he informed the couple that he left the door to his adjoining room unlocked if they needed anything, but that didn’t stop Trice from “continually texting” him for access to the room while giving instructions on how to prepare the baby’s meals.

Things allegedly took a turn for the worse when the Stanfields ordered her to “bring the prepared bottle” to their room. “[She] wasn’t in his hotel room at the moment and had to go back to his room to give Trice the ingredients to make a fresh bottle.

On Nov. 5, the woman claims she started her supposed break at about 5 p.m. but was interrupted shortly after when LaKeith texted her to “make sure Trice buys juice because his blood sugar is low.”

When she returned to the hotel at about 8:30 p.m., the nanny claims she got the “silent treatment” from the couple. However, the straw that broke the camel’s back for the distraught nanny was on the last day of the trip when Trice texted her that the baby would be in her care on the drive to the airport and on the flight home.

The nanny claimed she refused the request, telling the couple she didn’t feel comfortable having the baby on the flight home because it was a “security risk,” but her complaint was met with Trice telling her, “That’s the role of a travel nanny. .”

When the nanny insisted she could not be responsible for the baby on the flight home, Trice allegedly canceled her flight and told her to find her own transportation back to Los Angeles. Upon returning to LA, he invoiced the couple for the trip but they refused to pay.

He was reportedly informed that his complaint about Stanfields’ “various wage and hour violations” led to his termination.

Keith and Trice became husband and wife in July 2023 while also letting the world know that they are secretly welcoming their first child together. “We’ve shown this beautiful family,” LaKeith shared of her marriage to the runway alum. “I want to spend the rest of my life with him.”
