Las Vegas teen beaten to death by mob of 15 attackers outside of high school

A Las Vegas high school student died after he was severely beaten by a group of about 15 assailants.

Jonathan Lewis, a 17-year-old Rancho High School student, died Tuesday, less than two weeks after an attack by a group of students outside the school, according to a KLAS report.

The teenager’s father, also named Jonathan Lewis, confirmed his son’s death to the station.

The grieving father said his son is reclusive and lives in Las Vegas with his mother, although the teenager plans to move to live with his father in Austin, Texas.

The father also expressed frustration over the fight that led to his son’s death, saying that “kids don’t know what they’re doing half the time.”

His father said he hopes the incident can become part of the conversation about youth violence in the city.

Lewis added that she loved her children “with all my heart” and called it “inconceivable” that such violence “could come to this level.”

“I hope there is a way they can find forgiveness in their hearts and find a way to be able to accept what they have done,” he said.

Lewis said the teenager’s family has been told by investigators that they plan to charge some of the students involved in the fight with murder.

The student was put on life support in hopes of surviving, his father said, but eventually died from his injuries.
