Hardman reveals in a new book about the royal family that the queen did not approve of her granddaughter’s name Lilibet. This comes after claims by the Sussexes that he had given them his blessing to name their daughter after the queen’s childhood nickname.
According to the biography “Charles III: New King, New Court”, a staff member who worked closely with the late king stated that he had never seen Queen Elizabeth “as angry” as she was at that time. Lilibet is said to be the late queen’s childhood nickname, which she picked up on a close family member when she couldn’t pronounce “Elizabeth” correctly.
Hardman stated that he threatened the new publication with court action when they claimed that he approved of his grandson’s name. This follows claims that Harry and Meghan have instructed their lawyers to explain that the queen approved the name.
The author writes, follows Daily Mail“The noisy threat of legal action is gone and the libel action against BBC never materialized.”

Although the contents of the letter have not been revealed, the author notes other details about the queen’s relationship with the Sussexes and other family members.
She writes about the events that contributed to their separation from the family and the opinions of friends and staff on family subjects. Hardman also expressed concern that Lilibet would only be in the UK for a short period, but the couple decided it would be best to name her after the queen.

Hardman noted in the biography that the royal family in particular expected Harry and Meghan to speak out about the issues surrounding Lilibet’s name since their separation from the royal family. He added that it was surprising that ‘Spare’ revealed so many details about the family and left out such an important part.
The name is a personal favorite of the queen, as only her parents, her children, her siblings, her husband, and a few close friends can call her that. Before attempting to delete a disclaimer, BBC has claimed that the queen did not agree with the choice of name.
At the time, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess stated, “The Duke spoke to his family before the announcement – in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.”
They added, “During that conversation, he shared their hope to name their daughter Lilibet in her honor. If he hadn’t supported it, they wouldn’t have used the name.”

Regarding Harry, the writer states that the Duke hopes people will see that he only wants to protect his wife and family. He also felt insulted that the royal family did not respect him enough to treat Meghan well.
