The late sailor Mikala Jones has married his wife Emma Brereton. He posted a snap of him and Emma in February 2018. He wrote, “Pre-parenthood. #justpassingthrough @reef.” Not much about their marriage.
According to the New York Post, a Hawaiian surfing star bled to death after severing an artery in his groin while surfing in Indonesia this weekend. He was involved in a surfing accident in the Mentawai Islands on Sunday.
Mikala was a guest at Awera Resort with her family when, according to sources cited by surfing website Surfline, at about 9:15 a.m. she likely impaled her left groin on the fin of her surfboard, causing a 4-inch gash. The exact circumstances of his death are still unknown, however, several people close to him said on social media that he died after severing his femoral artery, which caused significant blood loss.
“The details are sketchy but it sounds like he hit his surfboard, cut a major artery and that’s all I know,” Jones’ friend and photographer Brian Bielmann posted on Facebook.
The sport of tubing, which involves riding in a barrel of waves, made Mikala famous in Hawaii. The Hawaiian native has shared stunning GoPro footage of his trip, leading Surfline to call him “one of the most photogenic surfers of the 21st century.”

The New York Post reports that Mikala Jones and Emma Brereton reportedly share three children.

Isabella, after her father’s death, took to her IG and wrote, “I’m in so much disbelief right now, this doesn’t feel right. I love you so much dad and I wish I could give you one last hug. I wish I could tell you one more time how much I love you and thank you for being the best dad. I wish you were still here with us, you shouldn’t have left yet.”
He added, “This is too soon. I know you are in a good place now with nana vi and your friends. I hope this never happens and we can wake up and go skating together tomorrow morning.”
Isabella added, “I’m not sure how to put this into words, but my dad had a bad surfing accident and didn’t make it. I’m glad he’s doing what he loves most. Life will not be the same without you. I miss you so much, I would do anything to have one more time, even if we fight and then laugh at us.”
She ended the post, “Thank you for teaching me so many life lessons, and always being there for me. I wish you were still here with us now. I will always think about you dad. I love you so much, thank you for everything ❤️ fly high ?️ you are a fucking legend.”
Isabella also made another note. She wrote, “Thank you, Dad, for taking me on so many adventures, pushing me to do things I didn’t want to do, teaching me so many life lessons, always being there for me, and making us all happy. I wouldn’t be who I am today without you. I will carry on your legacy forever. Thank you for taking me to your place and teaching me your ways.”
He added, “My earliest memory with you is when you took me surfing at gema beach and we went together and we caught waves on the back until the sand and face buried ? When I was young my dad always took my friends and I go out together and we will send it with a bomb. One of the funniest moments I ever had with you in the water was when I was about 9 years old.”
He ended the post with, “I’ll keep telling people the wrong place every time I surf. You are an amazing Dad, I love you so much. We will all miss you and we will forever love you. I promise we will take you to all the right places. I promise I will be strong, I will continue to make you proud, and I will take care of Mom and Violet and all of our families. MJ ALL DAY ? thank you all for the love and support ??❤️.”
So, based on that post, Emma’s other daughter is named Violet.
