LeBron James Wishes He Could Do ‘Normal Things’; ‘It Can Be Challenging At Times’

LeBron James is probably one of the most famous NBA players in the league, so it’s not easy for him to do “normal things” that many people may take for granted. Being able to walk around the store or just take a walk in the park unmolested was normal for most people, but James wasn’t one to wish he could do such a thing without being noticed.

During a recent interview with New York Times, James, 38, describes what it’s like to be constantly in the public eye. “I don’t want to say it becomes too much, but there are times when I wish I could do normal things,” he said. “I wish I could walk outside. I wish I could, like, walk into the movie theater and sit down and go to the concession stand and get popcorn.”

And it doesn’t stop there. It’s hard for him to do anything in public without someone noticing. “I wish I could go to an amusement park like a normal person,” he continued. “I wish I could go to Target sometimes and walk into Starbucks and have my name on a cup like a normal person.”

While it can be frustrating for the NBA icon, he’s not exactly complaining about what he can’t do. “I’m not sitting here complaining about it, of course not,” he added. “But sometimes it can be challenging.”

LeBron James Will Cross Big Accomplishments Off His List

In the midst of his 20th NBA season, James is about to make big waves, and soon. He is 36 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points in NBA history. James will cross that line in the same number of years that Abdul-Jabbar played.

This amazing moment will join the long list of achievements of the Lakers star. He is a four-time MVP and has finished in the MPV top five more than 12 times, won four NBA championships, been named to 19 All-Star games, was a four-time Finals MVP and has been the AP Male Athlete of the Year four times. And don’t forget that 20 seasons in the league is a feat in itself.

It looks like James will break Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points during Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder or Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks. So, by the end of the week, he should be able to celebrate the big win.

It’s been an emotional week for James waiting to break the scoring record, and then the ups and downs of a possible trade that could be a game-changer for the Lakers. When news broke that Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving was looking for a job on Friday, talk quickly turned to the possibility of him going to the Lakers.

After it was announced on Sunday that he was headed to the Dallas Mavericks, James tweeted just three words that made everyone think that he was very deep in his feelings about the trade, because the Lakers could benefit from such an addition.
