Meet Leslie Aday, Meatloaf’s Ex-Wife
Leslie Aday is Meat Loaf’s ex-wife. He met Leslie in upstate New York where she was working as a secretary at Bearsville Records recording studio on February 1, 1979. According to Todd Rundgren, Meat Loaf fell for him immediately. Instead of taking the traditional route of asking Leslie out to dinner, Loaf makes what Todd calls his “first big move” at the Bear Cafe.
As Todd remembers, Meat Loaf had a package that he brought from New York and delivered to him. And inside the package was a large salmon. They took the gift as a proposal of engagement but instead of a ring, he gave her a salmon.
As reported in “Everything Louder Than Everything Else: Meat Loaf Guide” Leslie and Meat Loaf tied the knot within a month.
Meat Loaf and Leslie Aday married on February 23, 1979, just 22 days after their first meeting.
While the engagement was certainly unconventional, their marriage was almost as wild as his proposal to Leslie. The marriage took place at Todd’s home with a ceremony performed by a priest who, according to Rundgren, “was so old that he couldn’t tell the difference between them. So he looked at Leslie and said ‘Will you Marvin, take Leslie as your lawful wife?’”
The marriage took place in 1978. They remained married until 2001. Their marriage began to fall apart in the late 1990s after Meat Loaf achieved major success with the single I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That). Leslie blames their wealth and what she calls ‘fame’ for starting to drive them apart.
Leslie added: “When a man’s midlife crisis meets a woman’s menopause, it’s a train wreck. And it was a big train wreck”’
But Leslie has a side of her story to share with the world that many may not know. Even today, he has shared on his Facebook, a photo of Jimi Hendrix talking to him during his tour. Yes, Meat Loaf isn’t the only big celebrity he’s had a crush on.
During the 60s when British celebrity photographer Terry O’Neill wanted a picture of Mick Jagger and his band, a naked 18-year-old girl was sitting in front of a fully clothed man. He was known as ‘Angel’ who later became Leslie Aday. The Daily Mail did a whole article on it.
Her history includes romances with Mick Jagger (she was dating at the time) and Jimi Hendrix. As for Jimi Hendrix’s fling, he came to perform at the 1969 rock festival in Woodstock, where he lived. She said he started cooking for her and their relationship moved from the kitchen to the bedroom.

Meat Loaf took the daughter of his new wife, Pearl Aday, whom he had in 1975 allegedly with the unnamed drummer of Janis Joplin’s band. The only thing known about Pearl’s father is that he was a Yankee fan and a serious softball player in some of the Central Park Leagues in New York City. He told reporters, “I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl as long as it’s a shortstop.”
Speaking about her father, Pearl shared, “My biological father played drums in the Full Tilt Boogie Band, and I was named after him (Janis Joplin) because Pearl was his nickname. He’s an incredible vocalist and a huge influence.”
Pearl shared, “When I was a baby, my mother, [Leslie Aday], would take me to the studio and I would sleep in an open guitar case with pillows and blankets”. He added, “When I was growing up, there was music everywhere, whether it was at a house party or at a venue where my dad performed in front of thousands of people. I really grew up in recording studios. They were relaxed to me. In fact to this day, they can blast music and I can fall asleep on the couch because it feels like home.”
Pearl is now a musician but started her career as a backup singer for her father Meat Loaf from 1994 to 2003. She released her debut album “Little Immaculate White Fox” which was recorded at Grand Master Studios in Los Angeles. Pearl graduated from Long Ridge Elementary School in Stamford.

Leslie explains, “Somebody gets hired but then they complain, saying, ‘We’re not going to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at three in the morning’. But that’s OK by me.
On the morning of the photo shoot, Leslie remembers getting up early to prepare breakfast and then go swimming. He jumped naked. When she realized the photoshoot was about to take place, she thought to herself: ‘I’d better get a towel.’ As he passed, naked, Jagger suggested he might want to join them.
The photo was released, but Leslie didn’t recognize the band at the time because they weren’t “the Beatles” he jokingly revealed to the Daily Mail. She had an affair with Mick for several weeks, the two moved out, and Leslie moved back to her home in Pennsylvania in December 1969. In 1977, she met Mick Jagger again. He was the assistant manager of Bearsville Recording Studios — founded by Bob Dylan’s manager — where the Stones came to rehearse for tours.
