LI principal who mysteriously quit after one month had ‘sexual contact’ with student nearly two decades ago: probe

A former Long Island principal is accused of having “sexual intercourse” with a student “in a classroom setting” at the high school where he taught nearly two decades ago, according to a newly revealed state investigation conducted in 2007.

Jessica Bader was promoted to principal of James H. Vernon School in East Norwich last September but abruptly resigned the following month, prompting concern and questions from district parents.

On Friday, a News 12 Long Island investigation uncovered a decade-old scandal behind his brief tenure as school boss.

Bader, 51, is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student at East Meadow High School in 2004 and 2005, according to a state investigation.

It included kissing and fondling “in a classroom setting,” the state investigation found.

He was reassigned to an administrative position away from students and resigned shortly thereafter in 2005.

Her teaching certification was suspended for four years but in 2013, she became assistant principal of George J. Ryan Middle School 216 in Fresh Meadows, according to an online bio.

In 2022, Bader is applying for the Oyster Bay-East Norwich district.

A News 12 investigation found that he left East Meadow experience out of his application and lied that his certification was never revoked.

East Norwich County did not say whether it knew about the previous allegations before hiring him, according to reports.

During a state trial in 2007, Bader — who was not criminally charged because the student was not a minor — argued that the relationship was inappropriate because, according to the consent, the student was of legal age and not a student in any of his classes, according to documents.

“It is a grave error of judgment to believe that it is appropriate for any teacher to kiss or caress a student in a classroom setting, whether the student is in the classroom taught by the teacher or even if the student is technically of age ,” state hearing officer Patricia Rodriguez wrote.

Bader testified that he had an error in judgment and that he was “under pressure because of the birth of the twins and the demands of his personal and professional life.”

Bader did not return calls for comment.
