Depp revealed that he had no qualms about going nude in various scenes for his role in the controversial series “The Idol.” The actor, who made the revelation during an interview with Sun, went on to say that he enjoyed doing it.

“This is all me. I love doing that kind of work. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with enjoying that kind of work,” Depp said of her role as Jocelyn.

She added, “Every outfit, every interaction, every nudity—everything was very intentional and very important to me.”

The 24-year-old also mentioned that her “love” for such work might make people think she’s “a little twisted.” However, the actor later stated that he felt “so good after doing scenes like that,” describing them as “therapeutic” for him.

This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that Depp has come out in defense of his character on “The Idol.”

Shortly after it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, it received a barrage of criticism from news outlets, with some even calling the show a “Pornhub home page adventure.”

At the time, Depp, in his response, said that his character’s “absence” was necessary to portray him as “a born and bred entertainer.”

He wants the audience to look beyond and see that Jocelyn’s clothes are a way of “trying to tell you something all the time… or expressing her feelings in some kind of way.”

He added, per Daily Mail“I also think that the character’s occasional nudity physically reflects the stupidity we can see emotionally in him.”

Just like Depp, co-star The Weeknd also defended the show against criticism, noting during an interview that “The Idol” is almost “educational.”

He stated that the show taught the not-so-glamorous side of being famous in today’s world.

“It’s almost educational that this is what comes with being so famous,” the singer said Diversity. “You are surrounded by people whose true intentions you are not sure of, even if they seem to be good. You never know.”

The Weeknd also shared that none of the things viewers saw on the show were mistakes, including the much-complained near-nude scene.

“We’re playing with genres with this show, we’re doing what we want to do,” he added. “And none of this comes as a surprise. I’m excited for everyone to watch the rest of the show.”

The continued backlash “The Idol” has received since its debut has led to speculation about whether the show will be renewed for a second season.

A source said to Page Six, “This was never meant to be a long-running show; it’s always… a limited series,” while others noted that the door is “definitely still open” for the next season.

However, HBO, the streaming platform behind the show, stated that they have yet to make a decision regarding the show’s future.

“It was falsely reported that the outcome of the second season of The Idol has been determined,” the tweet read. “No, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.”

Fans of the show were shocked last Sunday when a preview of the fifth episode called it the season finale of “The Idols”. The revelation means the six-episode series has been scaled back and will end earlier than expected. It is still unclear what could have caused the change in the plan.
