Lily Tomlin is on the circuit at the Toronto International Film Festival but she still takes time to update the minds that ask about her friend and fellow actress Jane Fonda who recently revealed she is fighting cancer.

Jane Fonda Is Fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Fonda, 84 revealed to her fans in early September that for the past six months she has been suffering from cancer! Explosion shared Fonda’s IG post addressing the diagnosis. “So, friends, I have something personal that I want to share. I have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo,” he wrote.
Before he allowed fans to get too busy, he was quick to remind them that time and a “treatable” cancer were on his side. “This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky.”
The lovely lady even put aside her own treatment to admit that she is lucky as a celebrity to be able to receive the best treatment.

Lily Tomlin Optimistic

Tomlin stated that his best friend of more than forty years is a force to be reckoned with. “He was very frank and talked about what was going on with him in all aspects,” said Tomlin, 83. “The first thing, he said, ‘Don’t worry, it’s completely treatable. It’s one of the most treatable forms of that you might have, so I’m very lucky in that,’” echoed Tomlin of his friend’s words.
She went on to share that Fonda saw the positive side of her diagnosis. “He was like, ‘So are you coming to my next fundraiser?'” Tomlin said “That was the main objective.”
Fonda certainly didn’t let this diagnosis get her down.

Jane Takes It Day by Day

Fonda shared that her treatment can be rough at times but she hangs in there and most importantly “handles the treatment well.” He prefers to see cancer as a “teacher” and takes this lesson very seriously.
Cancer has shown him “the importance of community.” Tomlin is part of that community. The actors have worked together since the 70s in hits like 9 to 5 all the way up to Grace & Frankie on Netflix.
Tomlin represented both women at this year’s TIFF as Fonda was unable to attend for obvious reasons.

The woman appeared in a movie together called the year Move. The film tells the story of two estranged friends who are forced to reunite when their mutual friend dies. Both suspect their friend’s widower of wrongdoing and expose it.
Of course, it’s a comedy because these ladies can’t resist being funny together. Not only do they enjoy working together, but they can also choose projects that are important to them.
Grace & Frankie is one of them. “We’ve both been told by women who have gone through terrible things that watching ‘Grace and Frankie’ has kept their heads above water, given them hope,” Fonda said of the Emmy-nominated show.
Overall Tomlin called his friend “shy” and was simply amazed at his tenacity
