A lion cub, just a few months old, was taken to a zoo in northern Serbia on Thursday after it was spotted wandering a local street, officials and media said.
The female, which was found on the outskirts of Subotica, a town near the border with Hungary, was malnourished and weak, said Sonja Mandic, of the Palic Zoo.
Local media said that a resident of Subotica saw the child on the road and called the police, who then took him to the zoo.
A video on social media shows the child emerging from the grass and stepping onto the street.
Reports also say that the child is friendly and not afraid of people.
A policeman and a local resident can be seen in the video and other photos petting the child.

Mandic said the lion was in “pretty bad shape” and was receiving treatment and infusions to improve his condition.
“It can be 3 to 6 months old or 5 to 6, but malnourished and probably underdeveloped,” Mandic said.
