Lizzo’s appearance on the prestigious Grammy stage may have been puzzling amid her ongoing sexual harassment case.
The singer scored a significant victory in his legal battle last week when a judge partially dismissed the plaintiff’s petition, and he is now headed for a jury trial.
Lizzo Accused Of Enjoying Preferential Treatment
The 35-year-old presented the award for Best R&B Song to SZA at the Grammy Awards that just ended on Sunday.
However, the epic moment between the two friends on stage left a bitter taste in the mouth of the emcee representing former backup dancer Lizzo, who wondered why the academy chose to identify the singer.
Neama Rahmani expressed her dismay at her disappointment TMZ and alleged cases of women’s privilege and double standards. According to Rahmani, if a white man had suffered the same sexual harassment, racism, and shameful allegations, they would not have been shown the same grace that Lizzo received.

Despite his observations, the lawyer is confident that the truth will emerge and his client will win the lawsuit. He also mentioned that the plaintiff’s victory would convince the Recording Academy to start taking victims’ accounts of influential celebrities seriously.
Like Rahmani, TMZ also noted that some viewers shared his sentiments, noting that the singer has seemed unfazed since the ongoing lawsuit began.
The award-winning singer has received an outpouring of support from her colleagues and staff since the allegations became public last year. Eighteen members of his touring company reportedly wrote a declaration of support for the singer and disputed the claims against him.
“Special” Singer Gets Partial Dismissal In Last Week’s Case
Lizzo got closer to proving her innocence when the Los Angeles County Superior Court dismissed part of the case filed by her former backup dancer. The request was granted by Judge Mark H. Epstein last Wednesday after Lizzo’s legal team denied “every allegation” in their own filing.
The Blast noted that the 34-page order contained Epstein’s reasons for granting half of the singer’s request and denying the rest.
Three dancers in the singer’s tour group, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, accused Lizzo of harassment while they were contestants on her reality show and performers on her “Special” tour.

After the court victory, Lizzo’s spokesman, Stefan Friedman, released a statement expressing the singer’s gratitude to the judge for “seeing through a lot of noise and recognizing who she is – a strong woman who exists to lift others up and spread positivity.”
He also revealed the team’s plan to appeal other cases dismissed by the judge and expressed his certainty of a major victory. Plaintiffs’ attorneys also shared their willingness to conduct thorough research and prepare a strong case in front of a jury following the new developments.
He reiterated that the dancers were telling the truth, noting that allegations of sexual, religious and racial discrimination, assault, false imprisonment, and visits to Bananenbar in Amsterdam and Crazy Horse in Paris still remain in the other half of the lawsuit.
Grammy’s statement isn’t the first time plaintiffs’ lawyers have voiced their displeasure at Lizzo’s “unfair advantage.” Attorney Ron Zambrano expressed similar views in August 2023 after Lizzo’s team responded to the plaintiff’s lawsuit.
They stated their intention to “sue the malicious prosecution after he is successful and these false claims are dismissed.”
In his statement, he described Lizzo’s actions as “a dangerous attempt to intimidate and have a chilling effect on all victims of workplace harassment.” He added that Lizzo’s legal representatives chose “scare tactics, bullying, and victim-shaming strategies”, which are common practices in the entertainment industry.
