Louis Tomlinson Says He Is Not ‘Mature Enough To Get Over’ His Frustrations With Zayn Malik

Singer Louis Tomlinson has shared that he is still not in touch with former One Direction colleague Zayn Malik.

Tomlinson and several other boy band members fell out with Malik after his departure in 2015. At the time, Malik dissed his former colleague and engaged in a public Twitter war of words with Tomlinson.

Since then, Tomlinson and Malik have been at loggerheads and not communicating with each other. In a recent interview, the “Don’t Let It Break Your Heart” singer shared that she is not yet “mature enough” to get over her disappointment with her former co-workers.

Speaking on “The Zach Sang Show” on Wednesday, Tomlinson gave an update on her relationship with Malik. The couple got a public splash after the “Dusk Till Dawn” singer left One Direction to start a solo career.

In response to a question about whether he’s still friends with Malik, Tomlinson shared that he hasn’t forgotten some of the elements that strained their relationship, seemingly hinting that he’s still at loggerheads with the “Pillowtalk” singer.

“I may be wrong, but I believe I said, when you asked me the same question [last time] … I believe I said I didn’t think I was mature enough to get over what let me down in the relationship,” the 30-year-old added, per Page Six.

Tomlinson shared that he’s not letting the disappointment go too far, but he also said that he’s definitely getting “closer to getting over it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Tomlinson shared that his former colleague has popped up in his mind several times since their falling out. He said, in that moment of personal reflection, he wished Malik success with his career and personal life.

“There have been many times over the last few years where I’ve thought about him and wished he was okay,” the “Bigger Than Me” singer said. “But it’s hard,” he added. “I certainly wish him well.”

Although the pair apparently haven’t spoken since their online spat, Tomlinson thinks he’ll mend his relationship with Malik one day.

“I think it’s just in time,” he said. “I think we just have to meet each other because neither of us have each other’s numbers. I think maybe social media might be the way.”

It seems like a reconciliation is in sight, as Tomlinson has liked several of Malik’s singing videos over the past few months, with some featuring covers of songs he sang when he was a member of the boy band.

When Tomlinson was asked about his act of liking the clip, the 30-year-old praised Malik’s talent, saying he’s “a different caliber as a singer.”

“I don’t just like it for the sake of it. It’s a good feeling because in the past, he’s said what he’s said about the band, and I understand some of what he’s saying,” the “We Made It” singer shared on the show.

He added: “For me, in the video, it shows him reflecting. It shows him thinking about those times. Of course, at the same time, showing off his incredible voice.”
