Hale admits to feeling the pressure to compete with her co-stars, including Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields), Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin), and Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings), revealing the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the hit TV series.
Hale told podcast host Alex Cooper, “It’s great— this is an angel among me. Do I fit in with that?”
He continued, “People always want to pit us against each other. Are we all good friends? No. Some of us connect some of us don’t. Do we have rough patches? Of course. We’re in our 20s, already of course.”

Due to his challenges connecting with people, the 34-year-old mentioned that he doesn’t often spend time with his co-stars outside of the set. Unfortunately, this led to unfounded rumors among fans, falsely suggesting that other “PLL” actors did not like her.

Hale explained that she was “overwhelmed” by the change in her career and unsure of her role in it. She expressed feeling “disgusted” with herself after watching the series, prompting her to control her eating habits. At the time, the “Truth or Dare” star believed it was the best she could do, and controlling her food intake gave her a sense of improvement.

The actor admits that there is no obvious rivalry between him and his co-stars. However, he explained, “Actually, there are magazine covers, and they just pick one [girl].”

Despite the challenges she faced in the past, Hale still harbors deep affection for the “PLL” cast.
“I loved them, I still love them to this day,” he said. “I’m very proud that we kept the level — it feels like a family. You are not always passionate about certain family members but your family.”
In March, Hale reunited with Benson and Bellisario at the Everyday Action Gala, taking to Instagram to share photos of the “mini-reunion.”
She captioned the share, “A mini reunion for an amazing cause @every_day_action – a non-profit organization that works to re-purpose food waste on film sets directly to those living on the streets of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.”
