Lupita Nyong’o BUGS Out Her Fans Trying All Things New

Lupita Nyong’o is having a summer, not a hot girl, but a very challenging summer, for sure.

If her recent “shameless” Tony Awards outfit wasn’t enough, Nyong’o is no longer on a food adventure and some of her epicurean choices are literally disturbing fans.

Lupita Nyong’o is no stranger to challenging food but this time, she might be taking things too far, or so say some of her not-so-favorite fans.

In the video, Nyong’o, dressed in a blue dress with a tropical print and wearing a straw hat looks tan around the gills as she prepares to dive into some new food. He begins the video by saying, “It’s going to be too crunchy. Oh my god.”

As Mexican music played in the background, Nyong’o explained, “I’m eating some Mexican Chapulines, also known as grasshoppers.”

After some crunchy bugs were sprinkled on what appeared to be real guacamole, the “Black Panther” star scooped some up and spooned it onto her black corn nachos while singing, “That’s it. Oh my god, it’s gonna be crunchy. It’s gonna be so crunchy.”

He took a bite, quite cautiously, after counting “Un, dos tres” and after chewing a bit, finally announced, “Yes, it tastes right!”

Fans wonder,

“Couldn’t tell if about right meant it was good or it was just as disgusting as he expected.”

“Dead panning; ‘It feels right’ ????”

While some of Lupita’s fans seemed happy with her gastronomic adventure, others seemed a bit upset.

Opponents commented:

“Nahhhh man. I was ok until I saw them sprinkle ???”

“Couldn’t watch you eat that, had to close my eyes.”

“Thank you my favorite Lupita… for trying for all of us who would proudly say ‘NO’ ?”

“Why eat? Why?”

For people who appreciate this, err, crunchy treat, it’s all good.

“I LOVE grasshoppers!!!! Yum ? You all don’t understand!”

“You all taste like chips, really.”

“Visit Liberia next summer so you can have termites, AKA, bugabugs. Very delicious.”

This summer, we seem to be seeing a rather daring avatar of Lupita Nyong’o as she first chose to go bald (pictured above), earlier in May.

Fans left some appreciative comments like, “Your face is beautiful and you can rock your hair whenever you want” and “it really suits you, your face can look like anything!”

Here’s a little video of her rocking an ethnic Indian look, with henna designs all over her head, done in jagua, a natural leather dye from South America.

Lupita Nyong’o’s BOLD Tony Award Look Is The Art Of Resistance

Earlier this month, Lupita Nyong’o strutted down the floor at the Tony Awards wearing a silver bodice made from her body, by Pakistani designer Misha Japanwala, who described her collection as, “The word ‘passionate’ (translation: shameless) has become an anchor in my practice; thousands of people have used it to describe me and the work I create, in an attempt to insult and shame me into silence. In reclaiming the word and understanding that rejecting others’ narrow definitions of shame is one of the most powerful tools for liberation, I have come to deeply appreciate and respect what it truly means to live a life without shame.”

Both Naomi Campbell and Janelle Monáe praised her look, but many on Instagram mocked her look, saying no one said nudity removes “shame” from the body.

That said, Nyong’o isn’t there to please the crowd but to do what she feels is right for her, and one fan echoed that perfectly, saying, “This use of resistance art gives a kind of physical projective test to everyone who sees it. Comments tell the world is about the commenters, not about you. In their efforts to shame, criticize, degrade, and control you, many openly reveal their discomfort with the human body, and especially the female body.”

Here’s Lupita, a little split because of the crunchy bug!
