Lyfe Jennings was imprisoned for a serious crime at the age of 14. The singer and a group of his friends set fire to the house of a drug dealer. Unfortunately, the dealer was not at the home of an unidentified woman and the charge quickly turned from arson to manslaughter.
Both were locked up at the Columbia Correctional Institute in Portage, Wisconsin. Jennings, whose real name is Chester Jermaine Jennings broke down the encounter on social media.
“One day, you know, we were in maximum security and they like everybody up against the wall, because I was a porter on a little bridge where they put prisoners and stuff. So they brought the white boy in, and they happened to put him in the cell next to mine. I’m out there sweeping and mopping.”
Dahmer was only there for a short time according to Jennings, who tracked down that because he was meant to be transferred to the prison he was then killed by a fellow inmate.

Jennings does light maintenance work at the prison where he sings while sweeping and mopping the halls.
“When I will sweep, I will sing. So a lot of times cats have requests or whatever while I’m in there doing my thing,” Jennings recalled.
“One particular day, I walked by & Jeffrey was like ‘hey, hey hey hey, yo that’s you over there singing?’ I was like ‘yeah that’s me over there singing, you see me down there man.’ So he was like ‘I like R&B’ I was like ‘you like R&B?’ He was like ‘yeah, yeah.’”
Dahmer asked about the songs the young Jennings knew. “You’ll never guess what song he asked me that I know. Mint Condition ‘Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)’ He asked me if I knew the record and I sang the record, he hit the door and all this stuff. I’m not saying the homie is a celebrity or not, I’m just telling you my experience.”

The Jury Is Out On The Lyfe Jenning Story
Many social media followers called out the singer for allegedly lying about the encounter to which the singer received a hilarious response. “No one has to lie to you. Yall still playing R.Kelly at the kids pool party but mad at me.”
Jennings may have only received backlash from viewers who were angry that Netflix made a show about Dahmer because it has been accused of re-traumatizing the victim’s friends and family.
