The well-known Ciccone, who previously battled alcoholism and homelessness, died last week at the age of 66. The cause of his death, however, was not revealed by family members.
Although the pop queen and Ciccone had a strained relationship over the years due to his substance abuse, Madonna continued to honor her late brother in a recent Instagram post.

Taking to her Instagram story, Madonna posted a black-and-white image of herself and Ciccone surrounded by friends and appreciating her for the wisdom passed down to her, from different religions and her favorite novelist to musical suggestions.
In the image, the “Hung Up” singer and her older sister are seen smiling at a crowded table alongside many of their friends.
Madonna hugs a man in a black leather jacket as he drapes a leopard print scarf over his shoulders. The singer’s siblings looked handsome, dressed in all black, their faces turned away from the camera.
Attaching a message of gratitude to the post, she wrote, “Thank you for confusing me as a young girl and introducing me to Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Buddhism, Taoism, Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan, Jack Kerouac, Expansive Thinking Outside the Box. ” Madonna sweetly added, “You planted so many important seeds ……… . . ❤️”
The Singer’s Family Announces His Brother’s Death
Before the “Like A Virgin” singer shared her touching tribute to social media, her brother-in-law, Joe Henry, confirmed Ciccone’s tragic death on his Instagram account on Sunday.

In a lengthy caption, he wrote, “My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, left this world plane this afternoon. I have known him since I was 15 years old, in the spring of our life in Michigan many years ago.”
The bereaved friend continued, “As Dave Henry’s brother (photographer Ciccone) notes here, Anthony was a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in a few moments, as true brothers can. But I love him, and understand him better than I am sometimes willing to let on.”
Looking to the future, he said again, noting that even if “problems eventually fade,” families will always remain with “hands outstretched” to each other.
Henry ended with a touching message to Ciccone, writing, “Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think that the god who blessed your mother (and me) is there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one will stop me from this vision.”
Madonna and Anthony were two of eight children born to father Silvio Anthony “Tony” Ciccone and a mother, also named Madonna, and they all grew up in Michigan. At the time of his death, Anthony had reportedly moved back to their family home in Michigan.
The “La Isla Bonita” singer and older brother don’t have a close bond and it’s believed his struggles with alcohol and substance abuse played a role. He eventually went to rehab in 2017 and as a result reconnected with the Ciccone family including Madonna.
The pop queen is reportedly responsible for paying for Anthony to stay in a Texas rehab center for two months.

In the image, Madonna looks stylish in a baggy black top paired with ripped jeans and a hat with the words “Spiritually Hungry.” Her face was free of make-up, and her hair under the hat was tied up. The “Into The Groove” singer posed with her arms crossed as she sat back on a chair.
Captioning the post, the pop queen jokingly wrote, “Look how cute I am now that the swelling from the surgery is gone. Lol.” Admiring the singer’s comeback, the post garnered attention from fans, with thousands of people commenting on the image. Some of his followers praised his appearance and encouraged him.
One fan commented, “I love your sense of humor”! While another wrote, “Mother. Thank you for always living life on your own terms.” A third added, “You look beautiful, but then you’re always beautiful.”
