Mama June’s daughter Shannon Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell died Saturday following her battle with cancer. News of the late reality TV star’s cancer was revealed in March this year after a diagnosis in January.
Cardwell is June’s eldest daughter of four children and sister to Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. Along with her family, she appeared on the hit show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

Cardwell died after a battle with cancer. The 29-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January.
The cancer was found in Cardwell’s liver, kidneys and lungs after a series of tests following his complaints of abdominal pain. The following month after her diagnosis, she underwent her first round of chemotherapy.
At the time, sources told TMZ that doctors are optimistic about Cardwell’s condition and they are waiting to see how he will respond to chemotherapy before proceeding with a decision. But things looked dire when June took to social media to ask for prayers for her daughter.

A few days ago, June took to social media asking fans to send prayers for her now deceased daughter, Cardwell.
“All in all we are asking for prayers for our family as we go through this process, we really appreciate you all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update you all whenever we can find out all of your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated throughout ,” Shannon captioned on social media alongside a photo of praying hands.
The mother of four and her daughter Cardwell reportedly had an abusive relationship due to her romance with her ex-boyfriend, McDaniel. But the pair have since begun to rebuild their relationship, with their bond growing stronger after Cardwell’s cancer diagnosis.
“June and Anna slowly worked to rebuild their relationship about a year ago, but Anna’s recent diagnosis of stage 4 adrenal carcinoma has brought the couple even closer,” a source said. Page Six.
Cardwell was also present at her mother’s wedding to her now-husband, Justin Stroud, in February, insisting that they have finally reconciled and are in a better place. In a photo shared from the June wedding, Cardwell can be seen walking her mother down the aisle with her siblings, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird and Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon.
Mama June Moves To Georgia To Take Care Of Anna Cardwell

June decided to support her daughter during her cancer battle by moving back to Georgia, where her family had previously lived. In a heartfelt revelation, the reality TV star announced her decision to leave Alabama and return to Georgia during a chat with US Sun.
June also stated at the time that she would be moving in with her husband, Stroud. “We’re leaving Alabama,” he told the news outlet, adding, “I’m in the process of leaving Alabama right now, and I’m in the final stages of my legal issues, so we’re going back to Georgia.”
“We split our time between Alabama and Georgia, and when we came to help Anna and visit, we stayed at an Airbnb,” June said at the time.
He later discussed his decision to return to Georgia, where the family used to live, during the interview, citing his desire to provide the best care and support for Anna.
Regarding her previously strained relationship with Cardwell, June revealed that they had started working on things before her cancer diagnosis.
“The relationship with Anna was actually going well before she found out that she had cancer. It didn’t just suddenly magically start working like Anna had with cancer, you know, to explain it to everybody,” June said.
Mama June Shares Heartbreaking News of Daughter’s Death
Taking to Instagram, the reality TV star announced Cardwell’s passing, noting that he fought back but ultimately died “peacefully.”
June wrote, “With broken hearts, we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. He passed away at my house last night peacefully at 11:12pm. He gave an hour— a 10-month struggle he died with his family around him like it was not going to happen and we will update you all with more information as we get it today.”
The grieving mother added, “We love you all and continue to pray and think for our family [during] these difficult times.”
