A Florida man has been charged with threatening a New York-based Jewish organization after federal prosecutors said he left a foul-mouthed voicemail saying he wanted to “cause carnage.”
Deep Alpesh Kumar Patel, 21, of Sarasota, allegedly called the World Jewish Congress on Oct. 21 and recorded a voicemail that opened with the caller identifying himself by name, before launching into an unflinching and profanity-laced tirade against Jews, according to a criminal complaint issued by the Department of Justice.
“I want to tell you all, f–k everyone. F–k all Israelis,” Patel babbled during the call. “I hope you all go to hell.”
Patel’s hatred culminated in threats of apparent murderous violence.
“If I had the chance, I would kill every single one of you Israelis,” Patel was quoted in the complaint as saying. “Every single one of you! Causing genocide for every Israeli.”
The World Jewish Congress was founded in Switzerland in 1936 to act as the “diplomatic arm of the Jews” and to mobilize democratic forces against Nazi aggression in the run-up to World War II.

Threatening voicemails targeting the organization quickly sparked an FBI investigation, which led to Patel’s phone number.
Law enforcement officials visited the 21-year-old at his home in Sarasota on Oct. 24, and Patel confirmed making phone calls to the World Jewish Congress — but denied threatening anyone.
“When officers asked Patel to explain the content of the phone call, he explained that he had called the Jewish center to express his family’s anger at Israel for the genocide of Palestinians,” the complaint reads. “Patel stated that he did not intend to intimidate or threaten anyone, but he wanted to use the strongest possible language to convey his anger.”
Patel was charged with transmitting in interstate commerce an actual threat to injure.
If convicted, the 21-year-old man could face up to five years in prison.
