He played basketball in high school with his older brother Jeffrey Jordan. They won the conference title and had the best season in school history in their sophomore year. He graduated from Whitney Young High School in 2009 and was ranked by ESPNU as the 60th best shooting guard in the US as a high school senior, averaging 10.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
During his freshman year at Central Florida, he was in the final year of a five-year deal with Adidas. In his true freshman year of 2009-10, he averaged 8.0 points per game and finished his college career with 1152 points.
